What are you doing in your class to prepare for the 3rd grade WASL. Any resources you'd like to share? Would love the input! I will share what I have as well!

Barns and Noble has WASL flash cards that some of my parents have purchased for their student...the problems are straight forward and not overwhelming since each problem is on its own flash card.
In addition, OSPI has a website/recources for 3rd grade WASL. There is a practice test that you can have your students do.
Hi, I just took the WEST-B this summer and passed. I relocated from NC and had to take it for cert. requirements. I was nervous because it is 3 tests (reading, math, and writing). You can take them all in one sitting or break them up. I took them all at once and had 4 hours to complete it all. You need to manage your time well, but it wasn't hard. The math has lots of fractions, percentages and general algebra.
I am currently teaching high school resource room in Michigan. This is my third year teaching and I am looking to relocate to Seattle. Any hints you could give me or places to look for jobs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Since your credentialed in sped then you can look almost anywhere. I would recommend that you check out the districts at WA Office of Superintendent website. It can give you lots of information about districts, test scores, demographics, etc. Most of all I would try to find a job in a district near to where you can afford to live. Housing in the eastside districts (east of Lake Washington) is very pricey. 1 bedroom apartments are $1,000+ . Check out the link below and you might find the information you are searching for. Good luck.
I am originally from the Spokane area, Deer Park specifically, but I am currently stuck in Oklahoma as that is where my wife is serving with the Air Force. I am a graduate of Gonzaga and decided to go back for my MA in social studies education at the University of Oklahoma. Long story short I'm getting close to completing and I've also subbed as this state has the psycho requirement of only having to be out of high school a year to sub. No education or certification requirement at all. Only the tip of the iceberg as far as how messed up this state is but thats another story. I've been checking periodically the open teaching positions back home in Eastern Washington and I'm quite worried. I know I'm a qualified candidate, not only with an MA but I worked 4 years at a residential treatment facility for at-risk adolescents while completing my undergrad degree along with having served 10 years with the Army but it won't matter how qualified I am if there aren't any positions open. I really don't want to be a perma-sub for several years at the same time my wife is trying to re-establish herself once she leaves active duty. Am I missing something or is the job market really that bad, especially for social studies?
As someone who has been subbing forever (or what feels like forever)...I was told after interviewing for a job in another Spokane district that I can't even truly compete because there are so many people applying with twenty plus years of experience.
To get in a Spokane district, you have to know someone... Sucks.
Remember...there is district 81, Cheney SD, Medical Lake SD, the Valley SDs, Freeman, Meade SD, etc. It is possible to get a job...hard but possible.

Hello, dear G1-6 teacher!
It¡¦s now the holiday week and it seems like I am not having enough participants to do my Master¡¦s educational research capstone course survey before the survey deadline (12:00 PM, SAT, 26 Nov 05), that I am now requesting for your help. Would you please take a few minutes now to visit the following URL to help me and your district to evaluate the school-based after-school programs?! :

----------------------------------- I am a graduate student at the College of Education in the University of Missouri ¡V St. Louis, Constance Chang. I am now working on an educational research capstone project. The research topic is ¡§An Internet Survey of Classroom Teachers¡¦ (G1-6) Perspectives towards School- Based After-School Programs in the U.S. and Taiwan.¡¨ The purpose of this research is to make possible suggestions to parents, students, educators, policy makers and so on to provide pupils in both countries with further after- school programs. To reach the goal, we planned to invite some American and Taiwanese teachers to do an Internet survey to evaluate school-based after-school programs in the U.S. and Taiwan!
Since all the voluntarily participants in this survey will remain anonymous, we are now requesting for your help. If you are interested in this survey, please visit the following URL:

If you are now a G1-6 classroom teacher, please spare a small amount of your time to visit the above URL to help me to fill the questionnaire.
The online questionnaire will be available through 11/26/2005 (SAT) at 12 PM. My best estimate is that it will take approximately 15 minutes for you to complete the questions! A ¡§save and return¡¨ option is available so that you can quit the survey any time but I recommend you to complete the form in a single session!
Thank you very much for paying attention to this message and we also appreciate you, in advance, for participating in this survey!

Thank you very much.
