Hi Everyone! I have a BSC and Masters from UK, living in Canada for the past 12 years. Was a senior lecturer in Maths, Electronics & Computing College level in UK. Very hard to get a teaching job of any kind in Canada, have tried many times.
I'd like to get a teaching post at a school or college on the West Coast USA, can teach Maths , computers, Electronics at any level up to 1st year university.
Any info will be appreciated. Work permit not a problem, etc etc.
Math is in high demand just about anywhere in Washington state. Other than that, the teaching market is flooded. As a Canadian teacher, working in Washington state, I can tell you that will face some "patriot" type resistance, but because Math is in such high demand, it may work for you. The website you need to look at is: [link removed]!

I am a documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles. I am currently researching a film topic that would explore the issue of racial segregation and educational inequities in today's public school system. I am currently looking for the right vehicle to tell this timely story and would like to hear from educators about their thoughts, opinions and experiences. If this is something you would like to discuss or would like to point me in a helpful direction, please contact me via email at [email removed].
Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing from you.
Hello, I am hoping to relocate to Washington state from Louisiana. I have taught high school level Latin for the past 7 years. I am having difficulty finding any Latin openings anywhere in Washington. Does anyone know if many schools in the state have Latin programs? Thanks for any information you could send my way!

I teach on the eastern side of the state. Over here it's very difficult to get a job in the elementary, middle school, or high school for that matter. I have heard from friends who work in western Washington that there are a lot more opportunities there. Typically in the urban schools where there tends to be more turnover. With that being said Washington is still a tougher place to get into than a lot of other states (Nevada for instance) but I think with a decent resume and a good interview you have a good shot at a job on the western side of the state, unfortunately, on the east side you've gotta know somebody.
I somewhat agree with the previous poster that it is easier to get a job in western WA because there are lots more students, therefore more jobs. I have a friend, however, who had a job in eastern WA and moved to the Puyallup area and cannot find a job. I lived in Federal Way and moved to eastern WA and had no trouble getting a job. I was called for three interviews, got the job after the first one, and didn't have to go to the others. I didn't know anyone, so it wasn't my connections that got me the job. There is opportunity in WA.
I am starting a post card exchange for the 2007-2008 school year. We will start mailing out postcards September 10th and have them all mailed out by April 1st. I will email you a list of participants by August 27th with the addresses.
I want this to be a learning experience for my students. They will experience writing addresses and they will learn the locations and a few facts about each state. You can send pre-made postcards or make them yourself.
Once I get the list of participants (with their school addresses) I will mail one to everyone on the list. Each class would send a postcard to everyone on the list. So, by the end of the exchange, your class would send a postcard to hopefully every state and receive one from every state too! The real purpose is to have a fun way to study each state.
Please keep in mind that if you decide to drop out of the exchange, you need to let me know so the students are not disappointed. I want this to be an awesome experience for our students so, please sign up for our exchange.
Email me your name, address, email address, and state if you would like to join. You can participate from any grade level. [email removed]
Please join!! Here are the states we still need! Delaware Hawaii Idaho Iowa Kansas Louisiana Maine New Mexico Rhode Island South Dakota Utah Vermont Washington West Virginia Wisconsin
Email me if you would like to join! [email removed]

I am very new to this chat board. As a matter of fact I live in Florida and have never been to Washington (west coast) in my life. However, I have always wanted to experience something new and different. I do not know my way in Washington, safe areas to live and work, least expensive, etc. Just to let you know I have my masters degree in School Guidance and Counseling. I am a black single female. I am very flexible and open to moving to new places. I just do not know where to begin. Washington is so big but I just want to know where the safest places to live are. I am very interested in trying out this state. I am scared of earthquakes though!!! Any advice would be appreciated. I know Washington has so many counties and areas but I just want some advice. Oh, I am also 31 years of age. I really enjoy suburban neighborhoods. I do not mind working in the city but I would want to come home to a quiet place. I just need some guidance for myself right now. Thanks for all of your help and please fill me up with some great advice, areas, certification, salary-teacher, etc. You all are great!!!!
Hello Tasha, Washington is a great place to live and work. I myself am from the Spokane area which is beautiful. Depending on where you want to live Washington really has it all. If you're a city person Seattle and the surrounding areas are great. There are good suburban neighborhoods no matter where you are in the state. The state is pretty much divided into the east and West sides. Spokane being the prominent city on the east and Seattle on the west. I myself prefer the more laid back lifestyle that Spokane offers. Housing is still affordable (The same house in spokane for 200,000 will cost you 350,000-400,000 in Seattle). For information on the teacher salary schedule in Washington visit the link below. I've lived in other states and traveled to many more and I would NEVER live anywhere else (You can drink the water here,it's called the Aquifer) Ha! Good luck!

I am a teacher of the deaf looking to relocate to WA in the next few years. Anyone familiar with either the WA school for the deaf or other deaf ed programs in other parts of the state?
My husband is also a teacher (middle school science / robotics) and would also be looking for a teaching job. We would love any advice on places to live, job hunt tips etc. We do have a young son also.
