For the past 5 years I have been teaching in Las Vegas and summering in Central Washington. I am ready to COME HOME! I am wondering what the prospects are in Grant County and possibly stretching as far as Othello, Warden, Royal City, Mattawa, or East Wenatchee. I know they are all different districts. I also know that word of mouth about people retiring/ moving is the best way to find possible 'spots' I am highly qualified k -8 and LOVE 5th grade! But have taught 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th (departmentalized Math/ Science) ANY TIPS? or HINTS? would be very much appreciated.
I know the economy is crappy and the state is cutting back so I am also interested in what those areas pay for subs, should I need to go that route. Again, any info much appreciated.

I currently have a California credential for the HS level. I trained to teach English, but then added PE, Health, and French through passing the CSET exams. However, when I looked up how to transfer my certificate to WA it mentioned the Pathways program and it seems that I would have to take additional coursework and do more student teaching to qualify in all of my areas. Is this correct? That would take a lot of time and money. Thanks for any information.

Looking for a 5th grade pen pal class. We are located in Weston, Florida, which is just west of Ft. Lauderdale. I will have 22-25 gifted students. We could be exchanging snail mail, emails, sharing projects. It's a lot of fun and the students love the experience. Please let me know if interested.
