Here is some help! We suggest going over the questions several times. You should do this a number of times until you feel comfortable with all questions.
Time is the single most common fault that all test takers have trouble with. If you are familar with these study questions and know them well you will save time without knowing it.
Make sure you pace yourself during the test. Keep track of how much time you have used not how much is left.
Usually two choices can be eliminated from each question.
If you can not eliminate any answers skip this question and come back to it.
When required to read a passage such as in the lab questions you should scan/skim the passage to get a vague impression then read the questions. You will be surprised at how some answers come to you very quickly.
Do not guess. Eliminate 1-2 choices then "pick" out the best choice. You should be willing to bet money on this choice.
Scientific sounding answers are better than slang sounding answers.
Avoid extreme statements such as answers with these key words always...never...completely...
If the answers contain two answers that are opposite from each other then one of these is usually correct.
These are some sample TIPS and you can get the rest of the TIPS from [link removed]

NCLB mandates standardized testing aligned with state standards in grades 3-8 and once in high school. This means, we will all be WASLed in all those grades plus 10th now.
According to NCLB standards, 95% of our schools are failing. NCLB requires Adequate Yearly Progress in all of 37 catagories of students, so that by 2014 ALL students are proficient in state standards. One size fits all! If a school fails to make adequate yearly progress on WASL scores in any two categories (by socio-economics, ethnicity, special needs, etc...)the school is labeled "in need of improvement." Then begins the process of offering parents transfers to higher performing schools, including trasportation costs (out of district funds) tutoring for their children, etc... If AYP is not achieved for (I think) 2 years, the state comes in and draws up plans. Eventually, the state can take over the school and/or district that does not make adequate yearly progress.
NCLB is federal take-over of our local schools and the academic lives of kids, parents and teachers. Funds are tied to certain "scientifically proven curriculums." (read, "Fonix uber alles!)
I could go on.... Basically, the federal "leaders" believe that shame is the most powerful weapon to improve schools. The federal secretary of education, Rod Paige, actually said that. He also said that "Four out of five students are taught by teachers who do not believe in their abilities." Where is the outrage on the part of our current state superintendent?
NCLB also requires that all teachers be "highly capable," and there is a requirement to notify parents if their child's teacher does not meet the federal requirements of at least so many hours of study in their subject area. This is not too much problem for Washington, as we already have required most of what the feds are requiring here. What is ridiculous is that paraprofessionals are now required to have an associates degree or pass some test the state creates. All you para- pros making $8.25 an hour, you go get your degree! Now!
Raised standards, lowered funding-- the magic combination de jour!
Hi Yall, I’m in the process of writing a book on whats its like to be a sub in an inner city school. If you are willing to share your story with me please email me.
