I really need a teaching job for the fall in spokane, WA, or Cheney, or somewhere close. It's hard because I'm living in Utah right now. My husband is starting grad school in the fall and I need to support our family. Anyone, please let me know if anything comes up. thank you Stephanie
Unfortunately, you are moving into an area where there are 4 universities graduating teachers with Bachelor's and Master's. Finding a job can be quite difficult.
Definately start networking any way you can! It may be your only hope.

I am looking for a technology job in Washington. I am also looking for places to get 150 hours to keep my certificate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi! My husband has to be in Spokane for a work-related convention from Saturday, July 26 through the 31st of July. I teach T-I Reading in Missouri & am interested in any workshops/conferences or even teachers' stores that I could go to while in the area. If you have any information, could you please post/e-mail it to me? Thank you in advance!

Spokane also has a lovely little Japanese garden if you like those (I'm nuts about 'em). You MUST eat a meal at Cyrus O'Leary's.....trust me....their pie is to die for, the rest of the menu is outstanding as well, and the atmosphere defies description (it's definately a 'family' place, tho). Take a light jacket--the lack of humidity here may cause you to be chilly in the evenings. I'm a transplant from St. Louis! :)

I am considering moving from California to teach in WA, but I have heard that you pay a lot for your medical, dental, and eyecare insurance. How much is deducted out of your check if you are married and have two kids?
We are an established exchange looking for replacements for members who do not plan to return for the 2003-2004 exchange.
If you want to hear more about this first, I'd love to tell you about the exchange. We make it quick and easy. We have helpful hints. And I provide the mailing list in a labels format so you can print the labels out on stickers and quickly stick them onto your postcards.

We are a new postcard exchange, and we need a kinder, first, or second grade class from Washington to participate. You will need to purchase 50-55 postcards to mail to all of the other states (and maybe a few to Canada). I am compiling all of the information, and will send all of the addresses out as soon as all of the "spots" are filled. In return, you will receive a postcard from every state, all throughout the year. This is a very exciting project! Please join us!
I am a new teacher in WA and I'm wondering what business offer teacher discounts? Also, where are the best places to get teaching supplies and professional books?
Kori, Most of the major bookstores offer an educator's discount of 20% on materials for classroom use. The large office supply stores are doing Teacher Appreciation days this month: Office Depot on the 16th, Staples on the 23rd. It never hurts to ask, even Wizards of the Coast (games) will give a 10% discount. In all cases you'll need some proof like your NEA-WEA card.
