In Georgia, even without collective bargaining or any real unions, the teachers several years ago were committed to getting out and voting against a governor who was anti-education. It was stunning, to say the least, to see the commitment and subsequent voter turnout coming from the states teachers!
Final result: The first Republican (pro-education surprisingly) governor of Georgia elected since reconstruction.
CAn someone explain to me what exactly happened to teacher retirement money in Wisconsin? I'm from another state. Will you still receive your retirement money as usual or will you now be given it in a lump sum when you retire? If there is a helpful website that explains this, I'd appreciate that.

Office Depot has 1 cent notebooks and eraser caps and 50 cent binders and I think glue sticks this week. They've been having different 1 cent things each week, and I've been stocking up. The cheapest markers I've found were $1 at Shopko. They also have notebooks for 15 cents, which seems to be the cheapest regular price.
