Hi. I work with a teacher who is extremely hard to deal with. She is very degrading, yells alot, thinks all questions are stupid, gives horrible looks, etc. Every time I get up to do something, she asks what I am doing and why. If a student is talking, even to me, she gets extremely irate and yells; "I told you not to talk at all!". If I ask a question she squints her eyes and gives me a look as if I have no business asking such questions. She will ask me to do something without explaining then gets mad when it's not done right. The classroom atmosphere is close to that of boot-camp to me. I hate working w/ this woman. She has been turned in to the superintendent over and over from other aides in the past. The other teachers agree know exactly what I'm talking about and many have said: There's always one in the building and she's that one! Any advise? Thank you.
I take it you are her aide. My opinion is to document what you see and hear this woman doing. There is a difference between being a stricy teacher and being a degrading, manipulative and abusive teacher. Which is she? If she is the later, you need to talk to someone in your building about the situation. Someone who will take action!
Hang in there are remember: if she is that bad, you are the only sunshine those kiddos see each day. Be there for the kids.
My opinion only :)

My school is a reading first school too. I don't like the program at all!

As a RF school I am finding that I feel as though I sold my soul for money. Even though the funds are greatly needed-is it truly what's best for the students??? We have a person overseeing our grant who only has 1 year of certified experience as a teacher...and she is supposed to model for a veteran??? She seems nice enough but all local control is gone out the window...definitely don't think we'll continue on!

I have posted one of largest assessment help sites on the Internet. It contains everything form online quizzes to rubrics, to report card comments. All is free, no cookies or spyware either.
Recently I met some interesting people that helped me understand my WRS like never before. They told me things that the state didn't explain at all. I thought this information may be valuable. These people are former teachers that work exclusively with teachers in educating them on their pension options. Their number is 608-831- 3535. Good luck.
NIGHT OF THE CORN MAIDEN by Cindy Bramscher is starting to catch on with middle school students – especially those who are reluctant readers. A new Teacher’s Guide is now available for classroom study of the novel. Check out [link removed].
I'm considering a career change to become an grade 1-8 teacher after 10 years in corporate jobs. I have a bachelor's degree in Political Science, but, obviously, no teaching education/certification.
I understand that UW-Superior has a elementary education program that can be done over the internet.
Anyone graduated from this program? Is it as respected as a traditional program? Will I have more trouble finding a job if I go this route? I live in Milwaukee, and I'd love to go to UWM, but the flexibility (and lower cost!) of the UW-Superior internet program is awfully appealing.

Did you see Superior while storms before anybody we did, or not?

Marquette also has an on-line program that would certify you to teach grades 6-12. I was in the UWSUPERIOR program but they want you to live within 100 miles of Superior to student teach. Marian College and Concordia also offer teacher licensing if you have a college degree. There is also a program called Project Teaching at http://WWW.[email removed]
Hi all, My husband and I are teachers from Berlin, CT. Rob recently authored his first book and several school districts across the country are using it with their kids. It's titled, A Winner by Any Standard: A Personal Growth Journey for Every American Teen and it promotes all the ideals upon which future success is built—e.g., optimism, gratitude, self-belief, a strong work ethic, a sense of wonder, humility, originality. Any word of mouth you can spread would be greatly appreciated as #1, it can empower young people and #2, the literary world isn't set up to accept/assist a schoolteacher with no national platform from which to promote. Hi, I have been looking for a part-time or job share for the last several years. I have a strong resume with a lot of diverse types of teaching. I have taught in Maine in a multi-age, problem solving, constructivist program (grades 3-5). I taught adults ESL in Wausau. I also taught 7th grade in Ohio. I am currently teaching 5th grade in Southeast, Wisconsin. In addition, I am nearly fluent in Spanish. I am also a certified reading teacher. I would LOVE to do a job share or part-time. If anyone in the Walworth, Rock, Dane, or Waukesha (maybe even Milwaukee) county area would like to have a fun, flexible, hard working partner, I am your person. Please respond if you know of anything in your district that would fit my situation. Thanks for your time. Kathleen
