My Child is a high school student. On Friday he was suspended for making what the teacher said was a Racial Slur. She wanted him to do detection but I refused to let him because I didn't feel that the statement was racial at all. What i find even more upsetting is that BTU just got teachers in boston a 7% raise, and most of these teachers are in this bussiness for the money not educating my child. My son is Special Needs because of behavior issues, but this is never taken into account when The Jeremiah E. Burke high School has done nothing to help me with my child. they are only to happy to suspend him rather than giving him an education What I don't understand is why are children like my son LABLED, but there are absolutly no sevices that come along with labling a child. I don't thing that these children should get any specail treatment, but I don't think that they should be treated like other students. There needs to be some kind of system in place. Especially if were going to Put them in a catagory all there own. I guess what I want to know is what can I do for my child. They have failed to educate him and I really don't feel like they want to. Meanwhile my son (Who is a Hand full, and a half the closer it gets to Friday) will not be promoted because they have failed to teach him anything. I have ask to be called for anything. I told the school to give my papaers, letter, call me, If you put him out the school Please call me because I don't want my child on the streets. I was told that as long as he is 16 years of age they don't have to call me. By the way my son is 15 Years of age. they don't even take the time to make sure of his age. I will sign him out to school on Monday so that they don't have to be bothered with him any more. but were can I take him next. He is a young black male and as I have explained to the school if he is not educated, he's not goning to makr it. I cry about this because I know that my child hates school, and that he doesn't want to be there, but When the teachers are just as unconcerned, I have to do something but what. I love my son very much, and I have no problem gettin on him, at all. But how do I make the school educate him when they're content to let him fail, when they don't care. They got there raise and now all these children are at thier will. Hoping that the teacher likes them enough to educate them. I'm not just worried about my kid. I worried for all children w/ bahavior issue.

First of all I want to say that it sounds like you really care a lot about your son, so that is the most important thing. What city/state is this in? Well anyhow, I would find another school, a private one if affordable, otherwise another public school. An education is too important to ignore or throw away. Otherwise he will have to get his GED and that is a lot harder, in my opinion. At least get him a tutor. If I were you I would have him do an online high school such as Abbington Hill, they are great. At least do that, but it is best to have him in a school. Good luck and keep trying, never, ever give up.
Hello, I am the program director for Foreign Languages at UWM's School of Continuing Education. I am looking for an adjunct instructor to teach Spanish in our non-credit program. Our classes meet for a total of 20 hours - normally 21/2 hours one evening a week, for 8 weeks. Experience teaching is required; a masters degree is preferred. I'd be happy to provide further information to those interested. Thanks,

I have an appointment with UW-Oshkosh as a lecturer in Spanish. If you are still looking, I would be willing to go to Milwaukee once a week. Thanks, Cecilia.

A site that should be in every teachers' bag of tricks. Free for teachers who share. Site is supported by advertisers, just like teachers.net and offers hundreds and hundreds of actual files teachers create that include assessment tools, rubrics, hand-outs, everything.
