My wife and I are currently in the process of relocating
to the Milwaukee area. I am currently licensed in
Illinois. I only have student teaching and substituting
experience in the suburbs of Chicago. (Niles, Skokie) I
sent my Illinois credentials to DPI and they gave me an
initial one year certificate for Wisconsin (73 Early
Adolescence to Adolescence, 605 Biology/Life Science). I
have to take the Praxis 2 to get the 5 year certificate.
I have been applying to jobs on WECAN and Schoolspring.
Is there anything else I should be doing? How hard is it
to get a job in the suburbs of Milwaukee or in Milwaukee?

have residency requirements after the first year. There is a need for science, math,
and spec ed teachers. Good luck...See More

Believe me, Milwaukee is rough. be glad the market is tight
because you would not want to work there. I second the earlier
post that it's just like the south side of Chicago. Poor, and
people in a general survival mode. especially now with the
economy getting worse.

I will second that. That is probably one of those most useful
websites you can use. WECAN is so hard to use because they get
so many responses per job.

I am not sure about everyone else here saying it is hard to
find a job in Milwaukee, but when I started two years ago I
had a lot of job offers, an...See More
