balancing the budget

Dear Teachers, The unions do not own our government. The unions don't own teachers. Teachers work for the taxpayers, not the unions. Teachers are responsible for teaching our children, not picketing for the unions. The union boses do not own you and should not be getting rich on teachers dues. Balancing the budget will not only eliminate the union stronghold on the Wisconsin government and it's employees, but will save teachers millions in dollars in dues. The Wisconsin governor's budget should pass for the betterment of all taxpayers in Wisconsin including the teachers.

Mary DeFalco The Wis.' protest is about power not about the budget. The governor did not include the unions of firefighters, police, or the hwy patrol. He is determine to break the unions of those who didn't support him. The unions offered to make concessions but he is hell bent on taking away their bargaining power. He refuses to meet with them. The Wis. gover...See MoreThe Wis.' protest is about power not about the budget. The governor did not include the unions of firefighters, police, or the hwy patrol. He is determine to break the unions of those who didn't support him. The unions offered to make concessions but he is hell bent on taking away their bargaining power. He refuses to meet with them. The Wis. governor worked to reduce taxes - that isn't going to help the budget. The amount of money the union workers make is pittance in comparison to what the financial world is maneuvering. The big banks, the Feds, and big stock brokers brought Wis., US and many countries to the brink of disaster with their gambling and unethical practice. Don't forget the disaster the banks caused by giving out loans they knew couldn't be met- just the tip of the iceberg. The Feds are constantly devaluating the dollar by printing money. Let financial world get us out of the mess they created. Tax the wealthy. Don't let those unethical swindlers take away our voice, make the working class carry the financial burden, lower our standard of living, and be subservient to the wealthy class. As Senator Schumer wrote, "He ( the governor) may wish to take America back to the 1920s, when workers had no rights, but the rest of us certainly don't.

People never cease to amaze me by their myopic vision. Everyone single union member should rally in support of the Wis. unions. Some states don't allow unions. I was told by a professor in NC that teachers can't make more than $40,000 in her state. The financial world that continue to give senior executives with large six figure salaries bonuses as they did even during the melt down, have no respect for union workers such as teachers. Who says they are better than us.

This is a very true statement but lets not forget that it was Bill Clinton who forced the banks to give to the poor who couldnt afford it. It was not a republican who got this bill passed.

Obviously this professor either lied or is just plain clueless. Starting salaries in NC are $33,000 and the average salary is $43,000.

Granted teachers no were are rich and get paid what they deserve but lets keep with the facts.

NC Piedmont teacher Your NC salary info is completely wrong. We have a state salary schedule posted online for anybody to see. Maximum amount for a teacher with Masters and National Board Certification is 64750. Some counties (we mostly have county systems) pay a subsidy on top of that. It's never a fortune but it's certainly more than 40,000.
