The principal at WWHS is leaving. School has 1400 kids, 100 teachers. It was posted state wide anyone have info on it? What is town like?

CRAZY It seems the BOE is now supporting child molesters too. Male teacher at liberty high has charges of soliciting minors on FB and after school hours in person. yet the BOE says it happened after school so its not their concern or place to take action.

Gilmer County schools have been taken over by the state. Does anyone have experience with working in a system under these conditions? I was just wondering what to expect for day to day operations.

been there Yes the superintendent hides in her office, taking no responsibility. I have noticed that over the last couple years the westtest scores are going down. I did enjoy that year that the state was in charge.

KCteacher The only teachers who will be evaluated using the new instruments will be some Title 1 schools and some schools that have volunteered to be part of the pilot. This would be a maximum of around 30 schools, I think.

Obama and NEA

I just saw on the news a bit ago that the NEA is endorsing Obama for 2012. Since the WVEA has the NEA as its lead affiliate, I just called my board of ed. payroll clerk and cancelled my membership. What a relief!! I refuse to give my hard earned money to an individual who just spends, spends, spends without any regard for fiscal responsibility.

Teddy Kennedy was the sponsor of NCLB. Teddy Kennedy endorsed Obama. Teddy Kennedy's death was a driving force behind Obamacare. Not sure how Obama will save anything. All I have left is a few spare coins - is that the change for which he campaigned? I can only hope one and done!

Don't forget George W. Bush and NCLB And George W. Bush was the one who brought in NCLB. Sold that bill of goods based on his wonderful educational plan in Texas. Great success.......Not. Oh by the way.....the special education children stayed home the week of testing. Can we say skewed statistical data??

Retirement benifits

Do extra contracts outside the regular 200 day teacher contract count towards retirement time? For example if you work the regular school term and then am employed with a separate contract for 20 extra fulltime days, does that time count as an extra month or is it still just a year since it is all done within the same fiscal year?
