Won't happen UNLESS the entire country tanks, or WV's tree huggers continue to attempt to block Marcellus drilling.

Hi...I'm in need of a teacher from WV who would be willing to participate in a postcard exchange. If you are interested, please let me know. I'll need your name, school name, school address, grade level and email address. We should be starting in October.
Just wanted to let everyone know that Berkeley County School principals are still hiring unlicensed teachers to work in their schools even with the glut of qualified teachers available. Forget that nasty teaching license and PRAXIS scores, just go to church with the principal and you have an automatic teaching career in WV!!!
?They can if the person hired for that position is not allowed to start until next year because of the WV law of being hired 5 days prior to the start of school.

I am 55 and didn't start college until I was 29, so, this is only my 23 year teaching. I am in the TDC retirement. When can I retire? Do I have to be 55 and have 30 experience before I can retire? I need advice.

There are meetings going on throughout the state.
Check for your county's day on the wvteachersdcp.com website.
1) Do not even consider WVPE - they are a teachers group in name only - bad choice 2) I spent 30 years and as an officer in WVEA and now I am in AFT 3) I chose to leave WVEA because of they represent administrators...AFT is not permitted... 4) WVEA use to be extremely active and progressive...I, personally was disappointed in several major issues that they seemed to be quiet on. 5) Check the area where your school is located. AFT or WVEA may be stronger in that area. 6) BUT most of all - join one of the associations - It is unfortunate that many central office administrators CAN not be truste
On 11...See MoreI AGREE THAT THE AFT IS THE BEST SINCE ANYTIME A PROBLEM HAPPENS IN MY COUNTY I HEARD GOOD THINGS DO GET RESOLVED.
ALSO AFT ONLY REPRESENT TEACHERS UNLIKE WVEA.
IT IS STILL VERY EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN A SMALL SALARY AND LIVING IN THE PART OF WV.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR! WASHINGTON HS TEACHER

I am certified in middle school here in CT, but the jobs here are extermely rare - been looking for almost 5 years and managed to land a few LTS assignments, one half-time assignment, and some para jobs. I do have my Masters.
What is the job outlook in WV? Are there teaching positions available?

Thanks for your response. I am certified in English/Language Arts, Social Studies/History, and Music.
What do you mean by permit? What is needed for special ed?
LOTS of teachers in WV go this route through sp. ed. in order to get seniority in the county and then jump over to a job they wanted when they graduated from college.
I didn't start out as a sp. ed. teacher but went through the permit route also and realized along the way that I really enjoyed working with kids who struggle in school for various reasons. I felt like I make a difference that lasts beyond the usual teacher influence.
I earned my Master's degree in sp. ed. and haven't looked back.
Good luck!

I am sorry that you have had this misfortune and hope ...See MoreComp pays for physical injuries, not property loss. The glasses may be a medical necessity, but their breakage was not a personal injury. You SBA should have insurance that will cover this expense if the accident or event which led to your injury falls under their insurance guidelines.
I am sorry that you have had this misfortune and hope that you will recover in all ways quickly.

original posterThank you for your responses. Actually, the workers comp coordinator in my county told me that he is pretty sure my replacement glasses will be covered. The optician where I bought the new glasses told me that he has done workers comp claims before, so apparently they have paid for them in the past. I am slowly recuperating from all my injuries.
I am already analyzing results. The results have been available for a few days.
