Is there anyone here who knows anything about workers comp in WV? I am a West Virginia teacher who was injured in a fall at work last week. I had various injuries, broken nose, boken teeth, and broken glasses. Workers comp is teling me that they do not pay for the replacement of broken glasses. These are prescription glasses that are needed for me to do my job, since I am legally blind without them. Does anyone know if this is true? Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

no they don't Comp pays for physical injuries, not property loss. The glasses may be a medical necessity, but their breakage was not a personal injury. You SBA should have insurance that will cover this expense if the accident or event which led to your injury falls under their insurance guidelines.

I am sorry that you have had this misfortune and hope ...See More

original poster Thank you for your responses. Actually, the workers comp coordinator in my county told me that he is pretty sure my replacement glasses will be covered. The optician where I bought the new glasses told me that he has done workers comp claims before, so apparently they have paid for them in the past. I am slowly recuperating from all my injuries.
