A friend of mine is now living in Wyoming. Her son has been bullied in school, and when he finally fought back, he got in trouble but the other boy did not. This child was new to the area and didn't know anyone. This is going on for the second year for him - he is in 8th grade. The counselor at the child's school told the mother that because the bullies are athletes, the principal will not punish the bullies. Who in Wyoming does this mother turn to? She has another child, and they know few people. They're trying to handle matters with their son, but it is taking it's toll emotionally on the entire family. What steps are proper in Wyoming for them to take? I know that laws vary across the states...here in VA, a student has the right to defend themselves. If anyone can please help, this familiy could sure use it. Thanks.
I think your friend needs to see some counseling assistance from outside the school. If the child is being bullied he will need emotional support. Finding a good psychologist to evaluate the child for emotional impact of the bullying will help him and the parents to understand how he may have become a victim. The psychologist can help him build some skills that will prevent him from being a victim. Bullies are people who are emotional insecure and come from very unhappy homes they also need a lot of help and support. But they know a natural victim when they see one. Irish. Public education in Texas is in BIG trouble! We have a politician in Austin who is from Arlington, and is the head of the education committee. His name is Kent Grusendorf anf he hates teachers! He blames teachers for his son's suicide, and has been punishing teachers since he was elected. If he gets re-elected, we will lose our continuing contracts. We'll also lose our 22-1 class cap for K-3, and our 30-minute duty-free lunch (I never knew those existed until I came to Texas!) He supports vouchers, which as we all know takes money from public education. There is a lady running against him this year who has a good chance of defeating him. Her name is Diane Patrick. Early voting for this primary election is Feb 21 - March 3, and the regular election is March 7. We have it on good authority that he plans to initiate a nasty smear campaign against her just prior to the primary. Those of us who care about our children are asking that voters who live in District 94 call, write, or email their friends and family to ask them to vote for Diane Patrick. We're even asking those dyed-in-the-wool, straight-Democrat-ticket voters to, JUST THIS ONCE, to vote in the primary, vote early, and vote for Diane Patrick. If you have friends or family in the Arlington, Texas, area please forward this email to them and ask them to help us defeat Kent Grusendorf. Thanks, and have a great rest-of-the-year!
I would really appreciate your input for a book that my colleague and I are writing for teachers. This book will give teachers ways to help their students become engaged and motivated, as well as practical tools to deal with students difficulties in learning.

I took your survey I think it is a delightful idea!
Please consider participating, and passing the invitation below on to you colleagues:
Opportunity to contribute to research on school bullying!
You are invited to participate in a research project to learn more about strategies used by teachers and counselors when faced with bullying incidents. This study is being conducted by Dr. Sheri Bauman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Arizona. If you are interested in contributing 10-15 minutes of your time to advance our understanding of this important international problem, please click on the link below. You will be asked for a password to ensure that only teachers and school counselors complete the survey. Please enter “ijime” (do not enter the quotation marks) when you are asked for your password.
Hello. What are the hiring trends in the mid-sized cities in WY (like Sheridan/ Gillette area) ? Are they more likely to hire subs or in-state people? (college recruiting) Are "out-of-towners" frowned upon? Just want to hear your thoughts. Thx-- Rena
Here is a fun writing project for your students next year. Have them participate in our 50-State Postcard Exchange.
What's great about this exchange is that the teachers are all positive and involved in this project, so the odds are quite high that you will receive over 50 postcards in late September - one from each state, plus one from Canada, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
I choose one teacher for each state. We have had a great response rate with the prior postcard exchanges we have had.
We are now in our 5th Year! This would be the ideal time to sign up for our September 25th mailing date, as we have only one state still available:
Wyoming
If you don’t see your state listed here, then it is not available.
If you want to join, and you teach in Wyoming, please email me: [email removed]
If you are in our exchange, you can request that I email you everyone's address so your students can address the postcards, or if you prefer, I will mail labels of the mailing addresses for the other teachers involved - no cost to you! All you have to do is have your students bring in postcards from your state and mail one postcard to each teacher in our exchange.
Besides having this be a great Social Studies project, you can make it a Language Arts project too, and the students can write a short note about their state. Most teachers use a store-bought card and copy a message onto each card. Some teachers make a homemade card and copy the message for each card. Whatever you want to do is up to you!
We will all mail the postcards out on Sept. 25th, and in a few weeks after that you will receive a postcard from each of the 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Canada.
I hope you can join us! You can reach me at [email removed]

I am looking for a classroom from your state to participate in a USA Postcard Exchange. If interested, view the link included to see the requirements. I would love to have your state represented. Hope you join!
We need a teacher from Wyoming to join our postcard exchange. If you are interested, please email me. I need your school address and an email. I'll email you the list as soon as it is complete. Thanks, Monica
We still need: AK, DE, HI, MN, MT, NE, NM, ND, OR, SC, SD, UT, VT, WV, WY
Our project centers around a stuffed puppy named Ollie! He wants to travel across the country meeting children from each state. We are looking for a participating class from EACH OF THE 50 STATES! (This project combines a traveling buddy and a 50 state postcard exchange)
TO LEARN MORE… [link removed].
Ollie will travel around the country. He will have time to visit each class for ONE DAY ONLY. If he stayed longer, and it took him a week to get to the next state, it would end up taking almost a full year for his journey (remember, there are 50 states and 52 weeks in a year)!! We want to hurry him along on his journey so that he is able to make a full trip around the United States before school lets out for summer (many let out in May).
Each class will send a postcard to the other classes to let them know that Ollie has arrived safely. We can learn more about your area if you also include other information about your state.
Please also send 1-2 paragraphs by email describing what your class did with Ollie. Include digital pictures and/or links to your classroom or school web pages! I will add this to his online travel journal, so all classes can keep track of his travels!
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SIGNING UP, please copy and paste the following information into an email and send it to [email removed])
