I am taking the FTCE Biology 6-12 subject area at the end of this month. I was wondering if anyone has any study tips or good resources to prepare for this test. My email is dischino31@gmail.com. This is my first time taking it.
As I will be coming in to a school that has established programs for students with diverse needs, what is something that I can do at the start of school to immediately make a connection with the programs without "stepping on toes" or "rocking the boat" too much? I believe deeply in inclusion but do not see it at this new school or my old school and for me we are still at the integration stage for students with exceptionalities.
The first thing you need to do is find a way to assess the expectations and level of support from your new admin. That will give you a starting point. Ask them what they think is already working well, what they would like to see increased/improved, what they would like to see decreased or eliminated. You don't have to be in agreement, but that will shed light on how much you can/should try to change, and how soon you should implement any significant changes. Are they expecting you to maintain the status quo, clean up a mess, bring in a revolution? And are they committed to backing/supporting you as do any of that?
From there, you need to try and gauge the current attitudes and expectations of the teachers. Generally (as you know), they will run the gamut, with some teachers much more supportive/workable, and others you dread having students with because you know it may not be pleasant trying to help the students achieve/approach grade level standard without stepping on toes or denting egos (and/or the sanctity of their given subject area).
That's the first step. Most everything else will hinge on those initial answers and the systems they already have in place.
I heard about a waiver for the temporary certificate...is this true? I'm currently in the process of taking all my exams and am considered ineligible for the temporary certificate. Is there some kind of waiver that would allow me to begin teaching meanwhile in earning the temporary certificate?
I took the professional exam for the second time, couple days ago. Feeling heartbroken because I have failed the test for the second time. I have used the NavaEd book and FTCE YouTube video people have been suggesting to use on here. Is there any other resources that YOU have used to help YOU pass? If so, please let me know. I need to turn in all passing scores by the end of March. If I don't then student-teaching gets pushed behind and graduation....
PPandathe book she talked about is c alled "FTCE professional Education Test" REA's. It has a girl on the cover with a white top. plus 2 girls one with green stripes.... I naver took the test so I cant say weather or not is true....
I am currently studying for a MSc in Occupational Psychology at the University of Worcester. I would be very grateful if any qualifiedteachers could complete this survey for my dissertation researchproject.
I am investigating whether personality factors can be predictive of job satisfaction in teachers tohelp identify why there is a teacher-retention crisis happening in the UK and whether it is occurring due to a lack of job satisfaction.
