Some districts have already waived the 1 year rule. Therefore, it will really depend on your district. You need to ask your district HR. It is their decision if they hold on to your requirement of passing the test first because the bill is effective july 1 OR waive the first yr condition. This new law has been passed and is in effect, however, the DOE is not allowing this rule until the effective date of July 1. It may vary by district at this time until it's fully in effect. If you call the DOE they will verify this Information. Hope this helps!

The law DOES apply to us. I called the Senates office and they confirmed. I also called my district, however, they are waiting to have it in writing from the DOE. That's when I called the Senates office back and they said they will reach out to the DoE to have this communicated ASAP! They know our jobs rely on it. It will be helpful if everyone on ...See More

Thanks for sharing this information. What Senates Office have you called. I would join the group helping to help teachers in the classroom. I am one of many teachers out of the classroom because of the GK.
