A New Jersey school called in the police when a 3rd grader made an inappropriate comment deemed racist. This was an opportunity for a learning moment, but this wouldn't seem to be the way to approach it.

The article doesn't specify what he said. But really, should it matter? Is there anything that can be said (outside of a threat) that would justify the police being called?
