For those of you who are not certified, what has your teaching experience been like? What degrees do you have, was it tough to find work, was working in a private school enjoyable, how was pay, or anything else you might think is valuable advice. Thank you.

Like a previous poster, I loved teaching at this little school -- but not the pay. If I were in the same situation, I would do that again. As for mentors, I had a couple of teachers there that gave me some good advice regarding classroom management. We used a curriculum that gave you everything you needed with the exception of a schedule, which had to be figured out. (One of my mentor teachers helped out with that.) I still use some of the teaching methods I picked up from the phonics program we used there.

I have a bank of closets near my back door. One section is for cleaning supplies. My vacuum hangs out in that closest with my broom and dustpan. sj/retired

judycaret men, I went to the dentist yesterday and I love Law & Order. Good work to both you and Bev.
I only logged 6,000 steps because I also had to go to the Post Office (to find out about a very important package that tracking said was delivered yesterday but wasn't), the seamstress, and the UPS store.
I jogged 1.2 miles and walked/jogged the second 1.2 miles. The sun was shining, the temp was not as warm as yesterday, and there was a cool breeze so it was pleasant to be outdoors.
Back inside the gym to change into my swimsuit and to the pool. It was eerily empty so my preferred outside lane was free! I am a creature of habit and having to do my workout in other lane felt wrong. I asked about the length of the pool so I could figure out my distance. The pool is 25 yards so I complete 1200 yards per workout. I am hoping to be able to increase my distance in my 30 minutes of pool time.
The scale is my frenemy and has been since I started this whole fitness journey. It doesn't like to move down fast enough for me. So, I have resorted to look for signs of progress in other ways. Today I noticed a few things: my saddlebags are much smaller, my behind doesn't bounce as much when I run backwards in the pool and the fat pads below my knees are gone! I still have a long way to go but I will get there!
PT workout t...See MoreJRod and men, do keep posting. Love to hear about everyone's progress and the variety of activities we do. The outfit description is an added pleasure! I am in leggings or yoga pants, and a t-shirt. Shirts are advertising my favorite Mexican restaurants, or purchased on a motorcycle trip, or left-overs from school activities.
PT workout this morning, followed by 3 miles walking the hall. Another gal joined me for 30 minutes. Temps are very cold, I appreciate the inside hall for walking. The radio is cranked up, and the bathroom is nearby. 11,525 steps. :)
Today was trainer day. She was with another client when I arrived so I walked on the treadmill for 10 minutes to warm up.
Today's circuits were:
Set 1, 3 times: --squats, 45 lbs, 12 reps (used the squat rack for the first time ever!) --high knees, holding 12 lbs bar in front, 30 reps --inclined push ups, narrow then wide grip, 10 reps --one arm row, each arm, 50 lbs, holding lunge position, 10 reps
Set 2, 3 times, outside of gym --walking lunges, 12 lbs dumbbells at side, one direction, then back holding above head and walking high knees --plank, stand up, bicep curls, 12 lbs, 10 reps --standing tricep overhead press, 12 lbs, 10 reps
After the workout, it was off to the stretching area. Luckily, the table was available. The trainer asked if I was tight in the hips and I was! She could see that in the way I was moving. She did additional hip flexor stretches and my hips were feeling great!
