Just finished reading "Light of the World" by Elizabeth Alexander. She's the women who wrote and delivered the poem at Obama's 2009 inauguration. What a well-written book. Quick read. Her husband died suddenly leaving her and her two sons. Not a bit morose. Very emotional, of course. Uplifting. (Especially after reading "Underground Railroad")
Only 7,000 on my walk today. Lis...See MoreThanks for the book report, Elaine. Today I read the first little chapter of Moonglow by my #1 favorite writer, Michael Chabon. I can't read much now and this book will require my full attention, so it may take years to read. But it doesn't matter because, like everything he does, it's beautifully written.
Only 7,000 on my walk today. Listening to a Marcia Clark mystery.
Yesterday, pt workout and treadmill in pm. Today, I walked 3 miles in the senior hall. Love those wooden gym floors.
Snow is on the ground, but not bad. Very cold with below zero wind chill. Keep movin' and groovin'.

Elaine/ret/IN to BevSo good to hear from you and to know that you're not totally frozen solid in the North. Three miles in the gym--bet you wouldn't have predicted that when you were in 7th grade. Doesn't life just make us smile sometimes?
Tried to post a response to Kpalm, but kept getting rejected--now I'm doubly rejected--by Facebook and by Tnet--SOB!
Kpalm, how long were you off FB? I'm still blocked. The only thing I can come up with is that my friend and I have the same name, live in the same area, and both post on FB.
Just now was permitted to get back on--took FOUR DAYS-- sheesh! I've got a lot of catching up to do.

What you report I have never heard of and it does sound fishy...

This isn't exactly CNN Headline news but HGTV's Tarek and Christine of "Flip or Flop" fame are separating. I feel so bad for their kids who are so young.
hadn't heard thisI would think with his cancer and treatment, and having a second child during all that, plus trying to tape shows would put a stress on the best of marriages. I hope it works out for the best for their family.
he had back surgery, too. nfmOn 12/12/16, hadn't heard this wrote: > I would think with his cancer and treatment, and having a > second child during all that, plus trying to tape shows would > put a stress on the best of marriages. I hope it works out for > the best for their family.
I just did an 11,755 step walk--that's a long one for me. I'm feeling pretty good. I'm not injured, but I use 2 hiking sticks for security since I have occasional balance issues. I just finished listening to Grisham's The Whistler and started a lawyer mystery by Marcia Clark.
Steps, do you have a video or an audiobook to keep you company while you put in the miles? Hopefully, you'll have some drying in your neighborhood tomorrow.
Judy, the poster girl for the audio book. DH also uses walking sticks. Do you have to endure the ski pole banter like he does?
12342 steps today, which included a little bit of shovelling; DH and his snowblower did the other 99.56&37; of it. All my steps were indoors; thank goodness the school was just on a 2-hour delay and we could get into the gym.
I just finished the audio of "Underground Railroad," very engaging, but not a happy book.
