All was good with my December physical except D level was low. Dr. wants me to take 5,000 units/day. OTC is 1,000. Would it be easier to just an rx for the 5,000 dose?
Betty Ann It might well be easier--I'd certainly prefer 1 pill to 5. You might want to find out how big the 5000 unit pill is.

Actually, I just did an online search, and it looks as if the 5000 unit form is available OTC. Maybe whatever store you checked simply doesn't stock it.

I take 5000 every other day It is OC and not expensive.

ron/nj I see it comes in 5000 units. Are D3 and D the same? Still may be cheaper with a rx co-pay.

AM- my experience D2 D3 Traditionally D2 are the vitamins and D3 is absorbing it naturally with the sun. The body handles them differently. My levels are tanked. I was on 50K units OTC with no response, three different brands, then put on a prescription one with no change in levels. It is helpful in absorbing D2 if you take them with something fatty.
