I have always done all the planning for any trips that we take. Now that we are retired and traveling more, I see deals on vacation tours to the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Europe, etc. through Costco and various tour companies.

Initially the price seems high but I wonder if it really is after you factor in all the incidental costs and the hassle factor. Has anyone taken one of these kinds of trips and what are the pros and cons?

We love cruises and have taken trips packaged with short land tours to Alaska and Hawaii. Both worked out very well and both were booked on the internet.

Positive person Hi Oldie but goodie! My DH and I took a Tauck tour, "In Freedom's Footsteps" in September. It was wonderful and we learned a lot. I hate humidity, so the 102 heat index (temp + humidity level) in Philly was unpleasant, but what are you going to do about the weather? not cheap, but SO much was included and our tour director was wonderful....See More

Thank you - OP Thank you for your input. I think some of our trip ideas might be best served with a tour and while we may not see everything, we also don't have to drive ourselves crazy trying to plan and coordinate everything.
