High school history, civics, government

Years ago, when I went to high school, history was a requirement for graduation as was a course in civics or government. In fact, I believe we had to take two history courses - American History and World history as well as government. In the last couple of years, I have heard several people mention they don't think history/government/civics are being taught anymore. True or not true? Are these required for graduation in your district or school?

That's why we will never be the UNITED states; too many are ignorant of how our government and at times doesn't work. We cannot be united until we have a truly educated populace. We cannot be united until we have a truly educated populace. When the news media were calling Trump racist for wanting to keep those from terrorist countries out "until we figure this thing out," that was the time to tell the truth and educate the viewers on the Plenary Powers Doctrine but none did. It would be Constitution for a president to do so but the media mislead viewers into thinking otherwise. I tried to explain it on Facebook and Twitter but I was called a Trump lover, a racist, etc. I did not vote for Trump (or Clinton). I am a fan of the truth, and of education. We seem to have relegated "Knowledge is power" to a trite bumper sticker.

Frankly, anyone who puts the plight of refugees ahead of their own countrymen is making a choice that can only be seen as unpatriotic. Essentially you are more concerned with the lives of non- citizens than the lives of your fellow countrymen. You don't even address the fact that we are under attack and have seen the establishment of a trend toward extreme terrorist incidents. I'm not willing to make it the new normal in MY country. I can't for the life of me understand why people like you believe we should be expected to stand still and accept it. What do you know about the U.N. and it's refugee programs? Why would you push an agenda that you know will aid the terrorist element, rather than opt for a commonsense alternative? I truly do not understand people who think like you.
