no supplies There are a lot of schools in CA that don't do this. If
you say it's the law, then I won't argue, but they aren't
following it. They consider paper in the copier (when
that's there) as supplies for students, I guess... In my
experience there is a supply closet with a few Expo

Judy2/CA I've been retired a couple of years. Following Ed law we supplied all of the students' basic supplies. Each teacher had a budget and we placed our orders with the office and they ordered from Office Depot. I bought a lot of supplies from Walmart at the beginning of the year because they were cheap and they had exactly what I wanted. Those I bought ...See MoreI've been retired a couple of years. Following Ed law we supplied all of the students' basic supplies. Each teacher had a budget and we placed our orders with the office and they ordered from Office Depot. I bought a lot of supplies from Walmart at the beginning of the year because they were cheap and they had exactly what I wanted. Those I bought with my own money. If we went on a field trip we could only ask the parents for a donation. If they didn't turn in their money the child went anyway. I use to pay it myself but finally wised up and quit doing it so my school did. Most of the field trips were very inexpensive - just a few dollars. The school paid for the bus which wasn't cheap. I spent a lot of my own money on my kids. My husband once said to me " I don't think you understand. You go to work to make money, not spend it." But my school was a high poverty school and he understood that the kids needed whatever I could provide.
