I took the day off yesterday; so I signed up for a spinning class this am. I rode my bike there and back, putting in 18.1 miles of very challenging cycling. I sat next to a lady who hadn't been to a spinning class for over a year. Turns out her husband is in my training class for the big ride on Saturdays. She said he is finding the training to be tiring, too.

Major thunderstorms predicted for this afternoon and evening. We got 4" of much needed rain just yesterday. No group ride tonight then.

Keep movin' everybody!

men52 Elaine: The big Saturday rides are the group training rides to get ready for the really big 34 mile long ride the end of August. Each week we gradually add on the miles and speed. The leader of that group ride the 34 mile ride last year for the first time. He developed this training program like he wished he had had to prepare him. It's free so no ...See More

Elaine/ret/IN Thanks, Men. Interesting that riding inside is easier. I've heard how much easier it is to ride w shoe clips. I don't want to use them because I feel like they add another layer of possibly injuring myself. I have taken my share of bike spills over the years but have so far--knock on wood--escaped injury.

No hills in your spinning bike! :...See More
