I was hired by a great district a month ago. New teachers to the district start training in 3 weeks. I just got a call from a dream district, who I never thought would call, on Friday. Is it ever ethical to do the interview and, if hired, ask to be released from the contract I signed last month? I had resigned myself to letting this opportunity pass by, but it will probably never come around again. I have a principal friend who said things like this actually happen all the time, but I did sign a contract and I don't want to be unethical. I've never burned a bridge in my life.
MacQ A "dream district?" No such thing in my opinion...and if it is true, dreams can turn to nightmares real quick. Be ethical and honor your current contract.
