I am a first year teacher. I am young, fresh out of college at 22. This has been a very good year for me, and I have been told by one of my co-teachers that I have the management of a 3rd-4th year teacher. The one problem I've run into this year is that people treat me like I'm incompetent as a first year teacher. It's like just because I'm young, they treat me like I'm the little kid who isn't grown enough to sit at the adult table. Some people that I have to work with really have not been flexible when I bring in new ideas that I'm not suggesting in a demeaning, rude, or know-it-all way. These people are older, but some are only just returning to teaching after taking off for an extended period of time. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?
