Just wanted to get a feel for other "Experienced" teachers in search of a change in school districts. I have applied to several school districts over the past two year, went on several interviews that went extremely well, and then heard nothing back. I have several interviews this week and am getting a bit discouraged wondering if school districts shy away from experienced teachers with 25+ years in the classroom. I am very good at what I do, have excellent references from past and current administrators, as well as current and past parents. I am just concerned that I am wasting my time. Has anyone else gone through a similar experience?
Melody I am surprised you are even getting interviews, honestly. I was told point blank by a department chair - I would love to hire you in our district. But I am not allowed to interview anyone with over five years experience. "Experience preferred" means 3-5 years.
