Too many students are concerned only with getting better grades. It seems immaterial to them whether or not they actually understand what they're reading. Then there are tutors who, for a little more money, write essays for their students while the students busy themselves with their phones and tablets. Understanding difficult concepts sure can be tricky, but students should shy away from it. My school recently subscribed to Bartleby to address this problem. The website features SME-authored explanations of difficult concepts. The explanations are short and easy to follow, yet they capture the essence of a given concept. Students seem more receptive to this, and we have been happy so far. We're looking for more such resources, too. Take a look at the site here: https://www.bartleby.com/

Do let me know if there are similar resources.
James I meant "shouldn't shy away" NOT "should." Sorry about the typo.
