Bio | At TalentJungle, we believe that everyone has a unique talent to be shared. And often enough, a master in the very skill you’ve been meaning to pick up could be your next-door neighbor. That’s why we created this site as a talent-sharing platform where anyone can share their talent or learn from someone else’s. The idea is to let people teach, learn, and share moments with others in the way they feel most comfortable, in their own space, and on their own terms. A lot of the time, people on TalentJungle simply want to share a hobby that they would otherwise do alone. TalentJungle allows you to experience anything from something unique you may have never tried, like dumpling making, to something you’ve always wanted to learn, like film editing. Our workshops can take many shapes and forms. For example, we have a mixology workshop hosted by former students of the Columbia Bartending School who practice bartending as a fun hobby. Students of the mixology course gather in an apartment of a friend of one of the hosts for a laid-back evening with drinks and interactions with new people. The instructors spend about two-thirds of the course explaining techniques and observing students practice, and the final hour is set aside to simply talk and hang out with the other people in the workshop. It’s a great way to learn a few party tricks and meet new people at the same time! An example of another kind of workshop is Chinese seal carving. The host, Kuntian Yu, is a lover of Chinese calligraphy and collects Chinese seals. In her workshop, she provides tools and raw materials and carefully explains how to carve Chinese characters into stone. At the end of the course, every student leaves with their own masterpiece. You’ll have learned a new skill, with your own beautiful Chinese seal to show for it. Thanks for checking us out, and, whether you’re teaching or learning with us, we hope to see more of you! |
