How likely is to be hired for a position that you have no actual experience in but are certified in, you didn't get on a referral list for, but were contacted for an interview for? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
haha10 years for DoDEA overseas and everyone starts on Step 1, so the highest Step you could start on would be Step 11. For DoDEA Americas, they will only count 5 years of experience and everyone starts at Step 0, so Step 5 is the highest you can start on.
Yes, they will generally accept int'l school, private school, etc. experience.
Applications are generally renewed in Feb/March. An email generally goes to tell candidates to renew out but not everyone gets it apparently.
All you usually need to do to renew is to review each section and re-upload your transcripts and certs. Your qualifications, references, etc. are not generally affected and do not need to be redone.
I have questions regarding the DoDEA form 5011 - Verification of Professional Educator Employment for Salary Rating Purposes.
What if our former supervisor/employer is no longer working at the former school of employment (either retired or transferred schools). Is it ok for him/her to still fill out form 5011, or does the form have to be completed by someone who is currently employed there?
As a sidebar, I am asking my former supervisor/employer to also fill out the Professional Evaluation form 5013 on my behalf and thought I should request both forms to be filled out at the same time.
My location takes substitute teaching applications via USA jobs. I submitted my package, determined qualified but then not referred. I was under the impression my location needed subs, nurses specifically. Any insight on why my application didn't go forward? I have made referral lists for actual vacancies.
HelpOthersThat is good news. I hope you were able to upload the transcripts You may need to reduce the size. I know I needed to do this with mine, because several transcripts had to go into one document.
CmcReceived another email last week that states I did not meet area of consideration. I reached out to HR to see if that was in reference to another location or my current location. I have not heard back from HR.
Hi... So I accepted my tentative offer for Fort Knox... Can anyone give me some insight on the area? I have 3 children, 2 in MS and one in HS. I'm trying to find the best school/town to live in. Thanks!
Teacher 4 Life@Jaycesmomma... That's great...which Elementary...Kingsolver? My sister in law and her family are in Fort Bragg...tried for there, but got KY instead...lol I think we too are going to make a trip to the area to see what's available, check out the neighborhoods, etc. We are coming from NY so know nothing of the area...where are you coming from?
JaycesmommaVan voorhis elementary. I didn't realize there were other schools on base. Yeah, I don't know anything about the area either. I'm coming from Georgia. Definitely not as far as NY.
There are a lot of ISS positions opening up on USA Jobs. I know it's not teaching and isn't for everyone, but an ISS position might be good for those of you who have been instructional coaches. It's another route into DoDEA.
Where's the position ...See MoreDefinitely listen to the question closely. I've sat on interview panels with highly qualified candidates who didn't answer questions fully so scored lower.
Be prepared to answer questions about how you collaborate with others, how you manage time with lots of tasks, and about quality professional development.
Sorry to be a pain...do you think hiring is pretty much wrapped up for the year? I started school 3 weeks ago in my district. I only got one part-time referral this year...but I also hadn't updated my files...so that could be why...maybe next year...
dodhopefulThanks, Mary. I am active in multiple states. I just didn't know that I could break my contract legally. And I had just signed a brand new one in a new district. I felt unethical thinking about breaking it. But now my current principal knows I'm applying every year...
HelpOthersI agree that it is best to be open with your principal. Let them know your goals and keep them in the loop if you ever do see a referral or interview request. Sometimes your references are contacted before you are asked to interview.
kiki08I'm having to do my underage child's passport through the post office, bc of logistics, both parents having to be present. I had to pay the $35 execution fee. The others are being handle at the passport office on post, I've been told I will not have to pay the fee going through them.
