2. May I apply for a teacher position given the opportunity or vacant after I accept the Educational Aide position?
3. Will it be a good thing to accept this job now , to work my way in as a teacher? There are not available teacher vacant as of today .
4. What is AD 00 excerpts partime permanent 70hours per pay day? Is It 140 hrs a month? If yes , It looks to me like regular school hours, not partime.
If anyone can explain any or all my questions I will appreciated. Particulary you Haha. Thank you in advance.
dramaThank you for answering. They only offered one amount per hr. There is not a range with different amounts per hr offered in the job add. I will try to talk to them if I get the opportunity for negotiation. Will see. Thank you again.

SMP0299Finally found one they approved and am posting here in case someone needs an elementary reading methods course. Its from Fresno Pacific University, Expanding Literacy Across the Content Areas, ELA 916! Thanks.
"The Educator Career Program (ECP) is the recruitment program utilized for the promotion and placement of candidates in principal and assistant principal positions. The ECP has been announced on USAJOBS.gov and will be open until mid-February."
Hi, I've taught ESL before, even though it is not my main subject. I tried to look here https://www.dodea.edu/Offices/HR/employment/categories/secondary.cfm to see what the requirements are and they don't list ESL. Does anyone know where it might tell me what the requirements are to get an ESL certification?
Hi. I am currently teaching overseas and opened my application for a stateside position for next school year. Will the fact I'm already in the system be taken into consideration? A referral was sent last week.
And, as you know, DoDEA is looking to shift some teachers so maybe the...See MoreIt could help, but as far as I know there is no official mechanism/policy for hiring DoDEA overseas teachers over stateside candidates. On the other hand, being a DoDEA teacher might have appeal for some principals since you know the language, curriculum, policies, etc.
And, as you know, DoDEA is looking to shift some teachers so maybe there will be some guidance from above to give extra consideration to those overseas teachers looking to get out. Good luck!
But why ask that question here? Some of your coworkers have taught for DoDEA-Americas, so talk to them. Just ask.
Is there any special consideration? Yes. In the interview. You have already interviewed for DoDEA. That's a huge advantage over an outside candidate. Play your inside knowledge to your advantage.
And go talk with your coworkers, for goodness sakes.
Hi, I'm currently at a stateside school and would like to transfer to another school within the state/district a few hours away. How do I go about the process? Thanks in advance.
kgteachThank you both for the replies. @haha,Yes, we do we receive emails for that particular area when positions become available. Contacting principals isn't a bad idea.
There has been a transfer program in previous years, but any fair judgement would suggest that the program was either non-existent, or that it it was only relevent to teachers with 20+ years of SCD and an A+ category. These requirements effectively barred the vast majority of DoDEA teachers from transferring.
Teachers with DoDEA-Americas have three pathways to get to another school. 1. EAS 2. Internal announcements 3. Intent letter
Be sure to let your principal know that you want to further your career somewhere other than working for them. This is actually a fourth pathway, because if your principal doesn't like you, then they may push to get rid of you. DoDEA Principals have a history of quietly dumping their weaker teachers on other unsuspecting DoDEA principals.
Cindy Kohl@WaitingOnDoDEA I'm still in the states, but I move to Germany in June and i'm hoping to find a local hire position. My husband is already there.
TeachCindy, local hires can often have a better time finding positions as sometimes numbers cause schools to add positions right before and even after the start of the year.
People will resign and retire, so there could be positions.
I have been applying locally for about 5 months now in Japan. I sent a brief introduction letter and my resume to a number of locations, and I updated all of my certifications and my USA jobs/Dodea profiles.
Yesterday I got a call from a Japanese base, but no voicemail was left on my phone. I called back, but was told that someone from the base had called me, but there was no way for me to find out who it was, or no way for me to leave a message at the civilian center office.
Has this happened to anyone else searching for a local job position? Do school representatives typically give applicants/candidates calls directly?
This is a vague question, but does anyone have any insight into what this might have been?
SocialStudiesLivinginJapanI do know which base called, I just didn't want to list it on a public forum. I was considering calling the schools on that base, but was debating on whether that would be considered overly persistent. I also checked my spam folder, nothing in there but spam........
hahaNothing wrong with calling and at least talking to the secretaries to see if they have any idea what it would be about. Odd time for them to be recruiting secondary given most schools are having to excess at least a couple of teachers for next year (although I guess it could be for something for the rest of this school year).
I so hate to hear about the challenging year that the DODD is happening. I...See MoreI just want to give a shout out, and say how much this chatboard clears the crazy process of applying and hoping for a DoDD position, and I really appreciate it! I'm hoping one day, this year maybe isn't looking good, to be able to work for this great organization!
I so hate to hear about the challenging year that the DODD is happening. It has to be so stressful for you who are teaching, worrying if you'll have a job, or worrying about a job change. Just wanted to say, best of luck to everyone and I hope things work out the best they can.
ATeacherThere are many words I would use to describe the organization, but "great" is not one of them. I do like my job, but the organization makes it difficult for teachers to perform it to their greatest potential.
hahaI wouldn't disagree. DoDEA is generally a great opportunity/gig for most of us but it's more due to the lifestyle, and in many case, the teachers and students, rather than the organization (especially in light of many of the recent choices that are being made at the top level).
Someone mentioned in another post you can get add-on certs at PDI. Does PDI mean "Professional Development Institute"? And is this it? https://www.webteaching.com/
