Elimination of the FLES Program o When is the deadline for current FLES teachers to get credits in so that they can add additional certifications if they choose? If they are working to add additional certs, due to the late notice of this announcement, can they use those potential certs in the transfer-round application (if there is a transfer round)? o DSO has said there are only two FLES teachers in DoDEA who do not have any additional certifications. All others have additional certifications, that could allow them to be placed in other positions. o Add to school-level JCC: What are the plans for placement, at the local level, for our current FLES teachers?
IcanreadAnna - It starts by applying online - https://webapps.dodea.edu/eas/login.cfm. You can't do anything else until you apply. Unfortunately, you can't request an interview - it's all done through an automated system based on your qualifications.

In general, it does not seem that DoDEA/admin are opposed to teachers being in those types of programs on principal, so I would let that stop you from pursuing DoDEA.
smiles43I would suggest that you make sure to get the actual weight of your shipment, from when they bring it to the weigh station, not just the "estimate", so it isn't higher than it should be.
Does anyone know if there are any teacher vacancies in Okinawa? I'm DDESS and trying to get to Okinawa (very specific, I know). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows whether there are any vacancies since we don't see internal vacancies for overseas positions.

Most years, things seem to start in May and go strong until August (with some hiring done all year). Last year, interviews started earlier than usual with referrals/interviews starting in March/April from what I recall.
I had an interview today for a first grade position at Fort Jackson and at the end of the interview they mentioned that they had sent my principal a reference check and they were waiting on that. So my question is do they send one of those to everyone they interview?? Is this a positive thing or a normal thing?
hahaIt varies by principal to some degree. If they sent if before the interview then they probably did it for everyone they intended to interview. So probably normal but who knows (and you did get to interview so that IS a positive). Good luck!
How long did/does it take for the qualifications summary to change from "pending?" My qualification summary has been pending for a long time. Also, is there any way to tell if professional evaluations have been submitted? Lastly, can you actually apply for teaching positions once "qualified" or does ESS just place you into a large pool?
A...See MoreHours to months. If it's been longer than 2 months, you might want to try writing/calling HR to have someone check on it.
I don't recall if you are notified that the evals have been returned. You get a green check on the app if you have submitted them but not sure if it ties into anything that says they have been received by HR.
And no, you generally do not get to actually apply for or even see actual vacancies but do go into the pool of interested/eligible candidates.
To some or many of you, these might be "Duh!" answers, and my excuse is that my experience is college-level, not K12. I said that it would depend on what procedure the school has in place (using logic more than knowledge here), but I don't think I did well with this, although the rest of the interview went well.
Any suggestions are welcome, maybe for next time :)
