Anna - It starts by applying online - https://webapps.dodea.edu/eas/login.cfm. You can't do anything else until you apply. Unfortunately, you can't request an interview - it's all done through an automated system based on your qualifications.

It will vary wildly from person to person just as it would in the states. It might depend on their personal philosophy, how your relationship with them is/develops, whether or not there is already someone on staff in a program, etc.

I would suggest that you make sure to get the actual weight of your shipment, from when they bring it to the weigh station, not just the "estimate", so it isn't higher than it should be.

Had we known about the tax, we actually would have sold everything and come to Japan with just our suitcases. Not that I know of. Even if there were a position open, you have to be put on an automated referral list to be able to interview. Contacting principals without being on a referral list doesn't get you an interview. It's generally better to get your application in as soon as possible so you have time to make sure you are being considered qualified in all of the areas you should be (it sometimes takes a while for HR to process your transcripts etc. and/or calls/emails to get things corrected).

It varies by principal to some degree. If they sent if before the interview then they probably did it for everyone they intended to interview. So probably normal but who knows (and you did get to interview so that IS a positive). Good luck!

Hours to months. If it's been longer than 2 months, you might want to try writing/calling HR to have someone check on it.
