I may be second guessing myself but I don't recall my e-QIP asking about information from my spouse. I'm hoping I didn't rush through mine and miss something causing it to come back rejected.
I've been teaching at the same school for the past 8 years and have nothing to hide or worry about. This is so stressful!
HelpOthersI believe Limes is correct. I recall filling in where we had lived over the previous 10 years, naming any foreign nationals that I was friends with (would have to my house for dinner, etc.), so if your spouse were a foreign national, they would be listed.
This question is specifically for those who have interviewed multiple times (not just referrals). How many times have you interviewed for different positions? Were you finally hired after many interviews?
HelpOthersStateside, I was hired after my second interview (two years later in the same district). Overseas, I was interviewed for two different positions in different Europe locations, then twice for the a third position in the Pacific and was offered the position in the Pacific after the second interview (which occurred 6 months after the first one).
I Never received a referral notice for the position
April 9th - Received an email from the Instructional Specialist for an interview.
April 10th - Interviewed
May 2nd- Received email with tentative offer / EAS Account inactivated. Returned paperwork to accept tentative offer, and in-processing packet.
May 16th - Received travel order packet - returned May 25th.
May 22nd - Received Eqip, returned May 23rd
May 23rd - Received an email about fingerprints. Received fingerprint cards on May 25th, completed and returned May 25th.
June 11- Received email that said "PSI-CoE" received all required documentation to process your background investigation request. Your background investigation request was submitted.
July 2nd- Received firm offer
July 11th- Received travel orders, July 13 got my password to access travel orders.
I feel really lucky that everything has gone so fast. It hasn't been without problems (I'm still emailing my HR rep to get my correct salary, and other stuff).
But in summary, 2 months from tentative offer to firm offer, 1 month from the time PSI-COE said they had received all my documentation for the background check to receiving Travel Orders.
Anyone know If there are ever any special ed positions for Italy? If so, how often do they open up. I havnt seen many people on here getting hired in Europe for SPED?
Since it's such a desirable location though, most of those openings get filled during the transfer round. The only ones that go to a new stateside hire would those that become available after the transfer round and do not get filled by internal/local hires. They happen, but are more rare than openings in the Pacific.
At what point in the hiring process do we need our official transcripts? I was told a while ago on this site to have them ready. I'm currently waiting to access E-QIP (since June 28th) and was just wondering if there's something else that I could check off my to-do list. Fingerprints, check.
HeART TeacherThey are supposed to be returned as part of the EOD packet, which was one of the first round of documents sent to me with my tentative offer.
I recently interviewed and interview went great but I never heard anything. I interviewed last week of June. How long before I hear something? What was the timeline for most of you who got recent job offers?
SvdbWe interviewed ther last week if June and received the offer July 3rd. But you never know, there have been all sorts of varying timelines. What position was the interview for? Others may have insight into whether it was filled.
Just saw on my application that I wasn't qualified for the positions because of the wording on my transcript? It says my transcript doesn't say "completion of bachelors" on it, even though I have a bachelors and all of the coursework to show for it on the transcript. I'm not really sure what to do at this point because that's the official transcript they sent me from the school. If I resubmit I don't see how the problem will be solved. Any advice? Thanks!
HelpOthersMake sure you have the most recent copy of your transcript. I did something like that years ago, but it was because I had provided the transcript I had in my safe that was from before my Masters Degree was awarded.
Sell off your crap on Craig's List and downsize. When you get overseas tell your realtor you want fully furnished accomodation. Your realtor will whine and complain (they don't like to actually work, they just want to churn commissions) but they will get you furnished accomodation if you are firm.
131.2 "Rent", exclusive of heat, light, fuel (including gas and electricity), water and taxes, means the annual cost of suitable, adequate living quarters for an employee and his/her family. When approved by the head of agency as necessary to provide such living quarters, rent may include in addition to the basic annual rental, the cost of: (1) rental of garage space for one car only for each employee, at not to exceed 25 percent of the employee's applicable maximum annual quarters allowance rate, regardless of whether such space is included with the quarters; (2) separate rental of necessary furniture at not to exceed 25 percent of the applicable maximum annual quarters allowance rate, meaning rental of necessary basic furniture and/or equipment, etc., but exclusive of pianos, other musical instruments, radios, television sets, etc. from source other than the landlord (rental of furniture and/or space from the same source under two agreements or contracts is considered to be rental of "furnished quarters"); (3) insurance on the property and/or furnishings so rented, if such insurance is required by local law to be paid by the lessee; (4) agent's fee with authorizing officer certifying that fee is customary, reasonable, and legal under local law ; (5) interest on a loan from an American institution to finance "key money" paid to a landlord; (6) garbage and trash disposal; and (7) mandatory as opposed to optional fees required for maintenance of common areas
If you are that concerned about the tax implications then your best bet is probably to travel light(ish) and look to buy furniture when you get there to match perfectly with your new house. We did something similar for our first posting (in our case, mostly because we were coming from teaching internationally and had no/little furniture).
Who does the hireing for Europe and Pacific? Peach tree or do they have their own people who do HR for those areas? Seems like Pacific moves much quicker than Europe. Been waiting for weeks for an offer from Europe. Not sure what is taking so long. Anyone have same experience?
hahaAs far as I know, it all goes through VA. Individual HR reps may or may not be assigned to different regions but I tend to doubt it since I've the some of the same names mentioned for teachers going to the Pacific and Europe. Maybe someone knows more or can reveal some of the mystery behind the discrepancies.
