somedayOh, that's great to hear. They didn't count one of my years because I didn't have enough days so that about puts me back where I had initially thought I would be.
Dodea has posted a notice saying there are many openings in all areas, but I haven't heard from Dodea on application. I don't know the hiring standards, and it's frustrating to just wait around.
hahaYes, it can be frustrating. Many/most people wait years before hearing anything. Some never do. Some people get interest/offers right away (just like some people win the lottery).
I don't know if y'all remember but I had an interview for Japan earlier in April. I finally talked to someone at HR who confirmed they selected someone else and they are in the process of coming aboard. So back to the drawing board. Thanks everyone for the advice regardless!
kellyone other thing T. Rob - I know the Asst Principal at the MS/HS! I have worked with her previously! Let me know if you want to chat about anything!
I got a notification that I am on a second referral list for Ansbach, Germany. I could not sleep last night b/c I was so excited about Brussels. I really, really hope one of these principals will call me. My kids want Germany. I just want DoDDS!
...See MoreThis process seems murky or a guessing game. Any advice/info you guys can give to dispel myths or demystify DODEA hiring process would be great. I interviewed on a Thursday, my references were contacted Friday and it seemed very positive. But now it's been weeks and nothing. I've never received any emails at all, just a call for interview.
Here are things I've surmised from online, often there's contradiction about the process. Please help confirm or clear up the confusion. If only DODEA had a complete FAQ section/flowchart with the ins and outs of process.
1) your EAS will freeze if you're selected
2) if selected after interview, they contact your references and do background checks before making an offer (all the times I've worked for civilian jobs while a military spouse, I was offered a job then had to complete background check paperwork)
3) after interview how long does it take to hear anything back? I've seen a week to weeks (month or so)
4) do they contact everyone's references who they interview, or just folks who they intend to hire?
HelpOthers1- Usually 2- The school may do this for more than one individual and provide the names to HR who makes the final decisions based on interview points, etc.
joseybearThanks haha and Mary for your input. It was so much easier before when you just go into CPO's office or just go into the district office on the installation to apply.
My guess then is that it's back to the drawing board since it's been 3 weeks and I've heard nothing. Fingers crossed for the next interview.
HelpOthersELA has been doing lots of trainings and next year the SS ISSes will be doing lots of trainings. You will need to travel to many of the different schools to provide the trainings and will support schools, teachers, and administrators to teach the content areas, including CCRS and AP.
hahaSadly, virtually all of the ELA training (at the HS level at least) has been done by an outside company/contractor that they fly in from the states every quarter. Hopefully they will actually utilize the expertise they have on staff in the form of the ISS types in the future rather than paying additional money to outside providers.
