Pretty much. Within my Masters we had the option to choose a class in EI, Cognitive Impairment or Autism as part of the program. I used one of those for the requirements and then was able to use a class on Assistive Technology, one for Physical Disabilities and something like Learners with Diverse Needs to meet the rest of the requirements. Difficult but not unheard of. My daughter's Sure Start teacher (pre-k) was a recent graduate. Her first job was with DoDEA schools in Bad Kissingen Germany. This was in 2000-2001, so things may have changed, but I remember her well because she was brand new. Good luck!

If it still allows you to choose 18-19 then you will be considered. You will be active even after the school year starts if a vacancy comes up. In January you will go in and update for 19-20

It's definitely not too late. Some interviewing and early offers are happening now but really this is super early compared to most years. Interviewing is likely to go on from now until school starts.

Thanks Haha, I am just going to do both. The doctor office said they would do up to 6 forms for 40 dollars. So he has 3 other ones for camps this summer and boy scouts that would make 6.

I would take ANYWHERE in Europe. I LOVED living and working in Germany, but traveling around the other countries, I'd be ok with them too.

Ah. I was thinking with the offer on the table it was one of the K-12 schools which would have ruled out Italy (or at least I thought so).

Right. When the scale itself goes up (which it generally does), your salary goes up even if you are on a longevity step. Also, you could continue to pile up credits and then could potentially move up a salary lane. LQA and post allowance will also go up (or down) based on cost of living analysis, budgets, etc.

Be prepared to mail your sealed transcripts, have your info ready for the equip. It goes back five years, locate a local fingerprint office so when you get the cards you can go there, and have passport photos ready for all members of your family. I have done all of this in the last week.

Good advice. Make sure you have your employment verification forms done as well, if you have not already (to ensure that you get credit for all of the salary steps that you are entitled to right away).

Haha, so undergrad courses for journalism or speech won't help my pay grade, just my chances of making a referral list, correct? I emailed my evaluator with the course descriptions, but no response. I am just going to have to make a decision and hope that I am on the right track. Thanks for you help.

Yes. Basically you end up weighing the extra cost/time/effort (in some cases) for grad credits for the ease and speed of undergrad credits just to get them done.
Although these days, there seem to be quite a few grad level credits that are still self-paced and not that strenuous/arduous (but not always easy to find in very specific areas)...See More

Mrs.C - Thank you for sharing all the information that you have gathered. It has been so difficult to find anything about local hires. I appreciate you sharing your tips and hope you find a position at the school where y'all are stationed.

Good information here. Definitely reach out to the principals and let them know you are in the local area. Your name will still have to show up on any list that they pull for a position, but if your name is not showing up then at least you can follow and try and remedy the situation.
