My family & I recently arrived to DOODS Europe & are on 21 pay schedule for 1st year. Any advice on making it through summer months without pay? We are allowed RAT travel next summer, which we want to take. However, until our pay stabilizes, it seems overwhelming. I also took advanced pay to cover certain expenses.
IdaIt is when you sponsor a club, sport, etc for which you get paid. Just guessing, but I think the letters stand for Extra Duty Contract, but I actually have no idea even though I have 4 of them.
Or, if you have/can get his records, you might be able to take those to a general walk-in clinic and get someone to write you something.that would work.
For official transcripts being sent in the regular mail versus an encrypted PDF that I can easily upload for my application, do I need to have these sent to a physical address for the DoDEA? I don't see an address. Should I open my official transcripts, scan and then upload them? Thank you!

My problem is EVERYTHING says tentative offer and I am hesitant to give 30 days notice with the school system I am with now until I know everything is definite.
Am I pretty much good to go since my interim background check is good?

The problem is that your background check + orders, travel arrangements, pack out etc could still take months (more if there is a gov't shutdown that freezes the process). So, you could leave yourself without income if you give 30 days notice now.
Also, there is a very slim possibility of something keeping you from getting the firm offer (very rare and not necessarily something wrong with your background check). If you can handle a month or two of no income and/or are not worried that you will be one of the very few that doesn't go from tentative to firm, then give notice. Otherwise, you might want to hold off for a while. Whether or not you have an off the record conversation with your admin would depend on your relationship with them.
If I arrange my own flights to report to my duty location once we are cleared to leave, is there a clear set of rules to follow to make sure I get reimbursed? Or is it better to request government arranged transportation the first time?
hahaI believe you need to use gov't arranged for your first PCS move (and it's probably advisable in any case). After that you can arrange for your own travel for summer RAT etc. and get reimbursed.
IAmBatmanJust remember that your ticket must be a flagged US carrier. Learn the partnerships and pay Delta but fly Korean Air. As long as your ticket/receipt has a US carrier's flight number, you are good to go regardless of who's actually flying the play.
For those new to the game, these are openings for current teachers who apply to the transfer round. These positions will likely never make it to stateside hires but in theory, filling them should leave similar size holes behind (unless they get filled through back fill by someone else in the transfer round, then that should leave similar sized holes from whatever schools THOSE teachers come from).
In practice, the lists probably aren't that useful to external candidates but we always pored over them every year anyway and looked at locations, certification combinations etc.
Apparently (as posted on FB) this list has a lot of errors in it. There will be subsequent lists posted with corrections, additions and deletions as the transfer round continues.
hahaSo far it seems a little light but pretty close to the past few years. Going back 5+ it seemed like it was closer to 200 openings most years (if I am recalling correctly).
I am looking to become a DoD teacher for the 2018-2019 year, but am a little unsure of the requirements and don't know where to go to ask!
I am certified in Fl in Social Studies (6-12), Exceptional Student Ed (k-12), and have an ESOL endorsement. I am in the process I submitted my application and I'm qualified for social studies. The description says I need 30 SH to qualify for ESE. But I have also read that if a person is state certified they only need half of the required SH. So is 30 the total requirement or the partial requirement? Is college coursework the only acceptable training or is district PD accepted?
Thank you in advance, I am sorry if these things have been addressed by others!
I ❤ sped30 is the total needed so if you need half you need 15. College course work with credits is the requirement. You will need to get the coursework sooner rather than later. Good luck
hahaDid you submit all of your state certifications with your application? State certification should mean you only need half of the usually required hours. If you submitted the SPED and ESL certifications and they are still saying you need the full amount of required credits then I would try calling and/or writing and find out why.
