I just did my transportation form and it said my initial contract was 3 years and if I fulfilled that, they would move my stuff back to the states. I had thought it was 2? How many years does it take to be tenured? Thanks.
If it stating 3 full years before you are c...See MoreWell, we generally do talk about two years of being on provisional status. But, in reality, they can apparently ask you to leave without having to provide justification up until the point you return and start your 3rd school year (after which point you are generally considered to be "permanent").
If it stating 3 full years before you are considered to have fully met the conditions of your travel agreement, then that does sound a bit unfamiliar (but wouldn't swear to it). When in doubt, ask HR for clarification (and then report back here).
Now, I interviewed on Friday, and he said I did a good job and that he was going to make a decision by the end of the day. He told me that if selected, HR would contact me with a tentative offer. Now, here's where it gets a little weird. I just found out today that my two previous references/supervisors still have not completed and sent the form! If he needs two additional references to make a decision but doesn't bring up the fact that he hasn't received them, should I assume that the position will go to someone else? Do they NEED to have all 5 before making an offer, or is it just a formality? Thanks in advance for the help.
hahaNot much to offer. I remember reading/hearing that it is a very small school/base but that the local community/area is very nice. I also recall that it was problematic for anyone with HS age children.
Li LaoshiWondering how easy/difficult it will be getting into Europe during the pandemic. Int'l School of Florence options for those with HS kids that can handle their academics. No doubt a decision is coming down forthwith.
I will need to check yes on the efmp on boarding paperwork for a few things. That I have a long term physical illness and that I have been attending a doctor every other month. Will these disqualify me for the offer. Was so excited until I saw this. Germany

As long as you can do the job and medical treatment/ongoing care is available at the location, you "should" be fine.
On the plus side, medical care in Germany is generally very comprehensive and readily available.
I got a tentative offer! I am doing the onboarding paperwork and can't seem to find the DoDEA IRC FAP consent form or the DD 2981 Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission? Anyone? And to those that keep answering questions here...thank you!!!
If you google it, some version of both of those should come up. But, they should be sending you the forms or a link to the forms to make certain you are getting and submitting the correct/most recent version. When in doubt, keep writing your contact person at HR.
I had a great interview yesterday and (hopefully) expect an offer based on what was said. Today I got another referral for a school I really want.
My question is how long do you have to accept the offer once extended? I was told to expect to hear something next week once decisions were made on Friday.
MyDODI don't want to jinx myself right now! I'm feeling good about it but also realistic and won't be devastated if I'm not chosen. I wish you guys the best of luck this hiring season!!! This is my 4th year in the app system :/
1. I have been following this board since Feb 19. was referred to SHAPE but no interview. High School Math, Physics, CTE, ad nauseum. To be competitive, should I bite the bullet and pursue AP Calculus AB/BC? Been awhile since I have looked at that stuff. Do most HS math positions need it?
2. Does anyone know how the diversion of funds from DODEA to the wall will affect teacher allotment for next year? (Not wanting to start a firestorm here. Just want to know if it will affect employment chances.)
"I understand that any selection(s) made will override any selection(s) previously made. If I choose not to make any selections, my previous selection(s) will remain unchanged.
I want to make sure that if I add new locations they just get added to the original locations and don't "override" them and delete them.
hahaI believe whatever new locations you select, should just get added to your previous locations. You should be able to easily check if that is the case once you click on the I understand.. and take the next step. Either way, you change and adjust locations at will and so any issue should be easily fixable.
I found commercial return flights from the US to Okinawa with a connection in Korea. Would this be a possible way to avoid having to ROM in Tokyo and Okinawa? Or would Korea make us ROM also?
CookieThanks for the info. At times, I prefer asking on this platform because I like my privacy. This is a great starting point and the you provided is very helpful.
I am a licensed SLP (8 years) who wants to become a PSCD teacher and work in both disciplines within DoDEA. I hold several degrees in SPED-related areas, such as an MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology, an M.Ed degree (emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis), and Ph.D. in Adapted Physical Education/Activities.
I would like to know how crediting works to become a teacher for DoDEA. I have classroom experience but no state teacher's license because my state didn't require an SLP to get a teacher's certification for the classroom. They
Also, I have worked for the government as an EDIS SLP and have my most current SF50 on my EAS application. I have completed the EAS system and have all green checkmarks. I'm just waiting to get mark-qualified in my area of desired work.
Area's I seek qualification/credentialing by DoDEA and have completed in the EAS system are:
0414 Speech/Language Pathologist (Assessor)
0415 Assessor (Special Education)
0429 Disabled Preschool
0472 Speech/Language Pathologist
I really enjoy early childhood intervention and want to become fully immersed in the SPED arena. (I may seem crazy or over-ambitious however, I want to serve as both a PSCD teacher and SLP/SLP Assessor for DoDEA concurrently if possible).
Furthermore, I want to ensure that I may meet credentialing. Is there a public
regulation or manual that specifies coursework or credentialing criteria for each area mention? I found nothing specific on the DoDEA site. I saw the teaching area but wanted more inside the course for credentialing in the PSCD and SPED Assessor areas. I am pretty sure (hopeful I should say) that I will qualify as an SLP and SLP Assessor. I want to become a strong candidate in all areas.
Lastly, I am not opposed to doing more school coursework if needed to qualify for the areas I want. I desire a unique opportunity to provide multiple disciplines in the SPED community, hopefully for DoDEA.
Thank you, and I look forward to any insight on credentialing or professional advice on a path forward anyone may have. I apologize for the lengthy email.
You generally don't find someone doing PSCD and SLP/SLP Assessor at the same time, but it could happen in theory, depending on the size of the school/complex, I suppose.
