As I recall, once you get your orders you will then set up your actual travel arrangements, based on the report date HR gives you. Usually your orders have a travel on or about date which means that date, give or take 10 days.

Yes, originals! I know of several people who went to get their CAC card and couldn't because their dependents did not have birth certificates and/or they did not have their marriage certificate with them. You definitely need original copies of marriage and birth certificates to get the CAC card. The gentlemen who helped us let me run back to the hotel to get it out of the safe. This information is useless to you now but when I was in the Navy Station in Hawaii direct deposits happen at 12am EST so in Hawaii we got paid at 6pm Hawaiian time the day before payday

I got paid later in the evening. My husband sent me a text "We had $_____ deposited today!" I thought it was weird to not see it first thing in the morning, but it got there.

The best thing you can do is add additional areas of certification. If your goal is DoDEA then something outside of social studies would be better than social science. English would be great because it ties into adding Journalism, Drama, Speech, English, etc.

Yes, it is a high needs position. There are fewer openings than most teaching positions but then again there are fewer candidates. The biggest factor should which would you enjoy more, teaching a whole class of students or working one to one or in a small group. If you are somewhere in between, consider SPED. We generally get the best of both world...See More

If you underestimate you are reimbursed, if you over-estimate you owe the difference. If the currency fluctuation causes you to be way off you can submit a reconciliation.
Couple of Questions
It is broken down into 26 payments either way, even if you only receive your pay in 21 paychecks (as in first year).

Check your application on the EAS to make sure you're actually activated for the current school year (2017-2018). A couple of us found well into the hiring season that we were not even though we'd done the whole application review process around the new year. An inquiry to HR resolved the situation.
