Im just starting the process for the next school year in Japan and was wondering what step on the pay scale would i start out with 12 years of teaching experience and 6 years military service.
BubbleHeadMy application is submitted, I just have to get work experience forms completed and make sure my reference completed there evaluation forms. I think Im an awesome teacher but I only have 6-12 social studies certification and military preference which i gather doesn't mean much. Im going to try to get at least one AP cert before next summer though
I recently received a tentative offer to Yokosuka. I am confident that all will go well and will receive orders eventually..lol..I really like to plan things out as much as I can. Regarding housing for DODEA, are we required to live off base or can we stay in base housing? I have viewed a few YouTube videos about both off base and on base housing. The on base housing seems to be more spacious. I really am trying to figure out what furniture to take. Thanks.
HelpOthersI visited Yokosuka this week. I was told that civilians can live on base, but after 5 years, you have to move off base. At least with the current command.
I find it puzzli...See MoreHere is my question - let's say there are 2 identical vacancies in different geographical locations. For example, HS teacher of science in Germany, and HS teacher of science in Japan. Is it reasonable to assume that when the referral lists are run that the same names appear on the list? If not, why would they be different?
I find it puzzling that I make referral lists for Japan and South Korea, but not for Europe. Especially since people have posted about being new CONUS hires in Europe in areas I am qualified for.
I even emailed head quarters and asked them. They said you still show up on referral lists in areas you didn't list because the fine print says we must be available worldwide. So, if geographic preferences aren't part of the equation, then how can I make a list in Japan but not Italy?
Had an out of the blue phone interview this morning for a school in Germany, after a not so great (i think) interview for a different HQ position last night. My mind is reeling and hope I get at least 1 offer as they are both amazing opportunities! How can i stop checkingmy email ....arg!
I haven't attempted to add any certs after being hired because I real...See MoreAdding credits and submitting transcripts basically. If you maintain a state certification (a really good idea) then you should still be able to add a state cert through testing (if your state allows it) which then means you only need half of the normally required hours.
I haven't attempted to add any certs after being hired because I really don't want to teach anything other than what I am teaching now.
JoyI do have more than 32 credits on social studies and before been hired they want me to take the state test (the HR person was not willing to go over it, that was my sense on the phone). I hope they look to it now.
I have been working on adding more certs lately. I took the business and finance exam from my state (this was my major) and passed. It looks like though that dodea is asking for teacher prep courses? I don't see that in the category description.. any idea what's up?
I assume this is normal SOP for Dodea, though. I am THRILLED. My family is THRILLED. I am trying to read through all of the posts here that are so very helpful.
rcoachShenna, No I have not received the link yet nor the medical form. Have you? Did you already submit your resignation at your current job? I think thats where I am struggling the most is basically not having a rough timeline to gauge the whole process. Can I give you my email so we can keep in touch? robinreedteach@gmail.com
