I want to know if who is willing to be interview? It is for our subject and we need a teacher from US to participate for conducting our interview. if it's okay from you. ( Hoping that someone will reply) Thankyou and God bless.
SandArtI am! You can e-mail me at sandrasiqueiros@yahoo.com. I don't check that e-mail every day, but I will try to check it daily for the next week or so.
What are some feedback notes you have received about your interviews? Any questions presented that caught you off guard? Have an interview soon and want to be super prepared!
I am needing advisement/help. I have been talking to the licensure analyst at DODEA and also the supervisor of them. They are now saying that if I take a 3 hour class in teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities that I can compete for LIMM jobs. I have actually already taken this class but it wasn't entitled exactly with "teaching math to mild to moderate students" although the description does say this is what the class entails. Sigh.
Anyway, does anyone know of a class with this title or even "teaching math to students with disabilities." I am trying to find a class available online or close to me. I am in Alabama. The problem I foresee is finding somewhere that will let me enroll and take this one class and not be in the actual teacher education program. I already have a master's degree in special education with an emphasis in visual impairments but for some reason they won't take that for LIMM. So that is why I am asking to see if anyone knows anything? Thanks so much in advance.
southernteachhaha Yeah and I have it confirmed via email that they will take this particular class and it will put me in to compete for LIMM jobs. So that is nice at least. Gotta stay positive. Thank you again.
hahaIt should. I know of teachers' children who take just online classes and stay eligible as full time students. There are tons of online programs depending on what he is studying.
SandArtI'd go online and encourage him to get a new advisor. What kind of advisor enrolls you for 11 credits? My kids (one is a college graduate in grad school and one still in college) typically took at least 15 credits. With 11 credits, I can't imagine him graduating on time, especially if he changes a major which happens a lot.
SandArtAgree with Sienna about sped and math. I applied for my first time this year and was hired pretty quickly after my first and only interview. My friend with Dodds said, "It could take years!" Maybe I just got lucky, but I think math and sped are areas of need right now.
I was told that with the passport being expedited, I might receive it in about 2-weeks, however, my first day of school with students is this Thursday. I'm afraid of mailing in my tourist passport and not having any passport to travel if I get my orders before the 2-weeks are up. However, would I even be able to travel without the official passport?
I've heard that there is also the possibility of getting the official passport after arriving at the duty station, but is that only for current DoDEA teachers and not new hires?
SandArtAnotherTeacher, no one contacted me about official passports. Fortunately, because of this site, I knew to contact them after so much time had passed. Without this site and FB for DoDEA teachers, I am not sure that things would have worked out as well. Things were not smooth, but at least I got things figured out with help.
Happy to post that things are going well. We have a little "kei" (yellow plate) car and driving on the left is not as hard as I thought it might be. We have cell phones and have walked around most of the areas nearby. Still need to learn Japanese, but Google Translate (especially the photo tool) has been very helpful.
