She went to two schools... does that mean I should combine her transcripts from both schools into a single file? Or are they referring to multiple pages for each school being uploaded as a single attachment....meaning one attachment per school?
So, hard to say about science position...See MoreIt's hard to predict (or even really know with any certainty afterwards) how many positions will be open in any given certification area in any particular year. Most years there were around 200 hires when there were not significant excess teachers to be placed (it might be a bit different these days).
So, hard to say about science positions this year. I do know of a couple of positions that were filled this year midyear. I can only imagine that there will be a reasonable number of positions. Make sure that you have maximized the areas that DoDDS considers you certified in (and be open to worldwide placement). Most/many science teachers will need to be able to teach some combination of Biology, Chemistry, Chem Apps, Physics, Phys Apps, Chem Apps etc. It would be even more helpful if you also were certified in MS general science since many schools are combined middle and high schools.
There aren't really any hot candidates with DoDDS since there are generally many qualified candidates for every opening (although there was an opening for a combination of VI/Learning Impaired Mild to Moderate not too long ago that only had one candidate who eventually turned down the offer).
Spanish/ESOL is fine and offers some flexibility to a principal but there are always going to be limited numbers of openings for Spanish and many principals will look first for someone with others certifications they could use to fill a timetable. ESOL helps a bit but many DoDDS schools have very limited ESL programs so it doesn't tick too many other boxes.
SLP positions do come up quite often and although there are usually quire a few candidates in the system the ratio is probably more to your advantage then many other positions. This year there were several SLP openings in the Japan district alone.
Does anyone have any updated information/news about the hiring freeze? Any new "exemptions" etc.? My application is still "inactive" and in "processing". The waiting stinks!
infiniti4When you first log in to EAS it is at the very top and it says that you "can't make any changes at this time." It was for a teaching position.
Has anyone received the annual notice to go online to update their DODEA job application? Just curious as I've not gotten mine and they normally come out every January. Also noticed that the site where the application is located has been down all weekend, or is this just a glitch?
If you can reasonably add any of ELA, Social Studies, drama, etc. then you would at least offer a principal some flexibility in filling their timetables.
The only one I have been able to confirm is an LIMS position in Vincenza being filled in the transfer round. Lots of movement to Europe but people not necessarily also saying their new positions.
hahaLOL. Yes we tracked the transfer round and made spreadsheets for both of our certification areas before we got hired. We weren't locked into Europe though so we were OK with those positions getting filled since we knew they would leave holes behind them in other places.
happyteacherWe aren't completely ruling out Pacific, we have just done a lot of research and most of the European posts are better for job and grad school opportunities for my husband, whereas many Pacific posts don't have his field. With every referral or interview, we will research the area first.
My application is active in DODEA's system and I have veteran status- any ideas when hiring will start for CONUS applicants once the transfers get settled?
Quick question... I've applied with dodea and on the question regarding what city I'd like to interview in, I selected phone interview because the closest option listed is 3-4 hours away. Should that matter? Is it better for me to make the drive? Thanks!
hahaWith DoDEA overseas schools interviews are always by telephone. Did you (the OP) apply for stateside or overseas? In general I don't think that it really matters whether you interview face to face or in person since most admin types will be used to interviewing prospective candidates by phone.
