Any info or insight into Guam HS. I'm considering taking an interview. I'm a bit worried about the salary & not receiving LQA with cost of living currently sky rocketing everywhere. But to be in the beauty of the pacific!
hahaNo personal experience. My understanding is that the salary scale is higher than DoDEA overseas and you do get some type COLA or Post Allowance, which offsets the cost of rent to some extent. So, might be worth following up on.
I'm thinking of accepting a job in Kaiserlautern but I have a graduating daughter who wants to attend college. Are there opportunities on base that aren't online for DOD civilians?
When I google it says: Central Texas College - Europe, University of Maryland - Europe, University of Oklahoma and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University are contracted to provide face-to-face, online and hybrid classes for the Service Members assigned to Europe.
It says "service members" but in the locations I was the courses were open to anyone affiliated with the base. You could reach out to those colleges directly for more info to clarify & confirm.
ATeacherNo, that is incorrect. DoDDS teachers may only apply to DDESS locations, not other DoDDS locations. They are seperate entities under the DoDEA umbrella and operate under different contracts.
hahaAgree. The only exceptions would generally be when hard to fill internal positions are announced via email and/or when in district/complex positions are made available to internal applicants (or applying for admin/ISS positions).
hahaHaven't really heard much about excessed teachers being placed, but I do know of new teachers being recruited stateside for certain positions, so I would assume most have been placed already (but you never know, do you?).
ecd5Very common. It's basically the only way to move to another location unless you accept a promotion. Also, DDESS teachers have priority over non-DoDEA applicants.
Hi, I'm currently working for DoDEA in Japan. I arrived in November 2020. I'm now considering resigning my position at the end of this school year. I haven't taken RAT. Are there guidelines as to when to let HR know? I emailed the question to my POC and I haven't receive an answer (SHOCKER).
So I received a phone call yesterday about a phone interview for a position but i wasn't alerted by the EAS that I had even been refered has this happened to anyone else?
Jaubrey23Yes! Though I am worried, as the post is for a current opening and I am "outside the gate" there was a concern that I wouldn't be on boarded in time for this school year. But I did my best and will keep a good thought

Hi, is anyone a reading specialist and can tell me more about what your day to day looks like? I received a referral recently and want to get prepared if a potential interview comes. TIA!
As I recall (could be wrong), it is a relatively...See MoreAlways tough to say for sure. It could be a very good sign, or it could be part of a group email that was sent out to many candidates. In any case, it is likely that Garmisch has/will have an opening in one or more of your certification areas. So, if you are interested, answer yes I suppose.
As I recall (could be wrong), it is a relatively small post and does not offer all grades, which could be something to consider if you have school age children.
Does anyone have insights into Hohenfels Middle/HIgh School in Germany? The idea of teaching at a school that has grades 7-12 with just 280 students sounds wonderful. But, I suspect that this post is highly competitive.
hahaFrom my understanding,/experiences it's a nice, smaller post with generally good facilities and interesting villages in the surrounding communities. The school is relatively new and with good facilities. I've heard generally good things about the admin/faculty, but that info. is a bit dated. Bavaria is definitely a nice place to live/work.
