bem IsItFriday? I was not on a random PCS page. It was a PCS symposium hosted by the garrison on their official Facebook page. They had representatives from various base organizations to answer our questions so I wouldn't necessarily say it was worthless.

HelpOthers @bem, That is correct for TDY, so likely true for RAT. Any time you don't go with the recommended lodging, the maximum approved amount for reimbursement purposes is the approved amount for that approved lodging. So, you could do it instead of the approved lodging, but would recommend the price be the same or lower per night.

Today, I just received email that I was put on a referral list. I understand it's only a referral, but I am happy to see some type of movement. So my question is should I email the school principal or wait to see if I get selected for an interview. Thank you in advance!

Question, I was informed that I was put on a referral list for the school that I applied for, I think the list was released yesterday. I was called for an interview and already had it today but I still haven't gotten an email that I was even put on the referral list. I have been subbing at the school and previously worked as a aide.

Wishful thinking.... Thanks, I got the job, it was a very quick process for me. Tentative offer June 12th Firm Offer June 16th. I am a local hire who has been a substitute teacher at the school.

I have applications in for Admin positions on USAJOBS. Today, I was asked to interview for a teaching position from my application in EAS. H educatormama, thanks for responding. That's interesting that it would've taken so long to get the offer. Do you know why it took so long? Also, do you remember how long it took between the time you were referred to the hiring manager and the time you were offered an interview? Thanks!

educatormama They didn't say why it took so long to offer me the position, my guess is that they offered it to someone else first and for some reason it didn't work out. I received a referral at the end of Feb, interviewed in April, offered position in August.

Hey everyone, what's everyone's thought on the 25,000 being withdrawn from Germany. I also read where Trump is considering pulling out thousands of troops from Japan, and Korea. How is this gonna affect staffing levels and school closures. Thanks in advance.

Sunnyluring @isitfriday, the numbers I stated also included dependents and the reduction in civilian positions due to the reduction in force for the the three nations. The information is all over the place I saw it on DW news and then researched it on American news sites also.

But only the troop numbers would be factual. The number of ancillary dependents etc, would just be a guess.

Bottom line - Keep you eye on the number of troops.

ecd5 I don't know much about GITMO, but typically you'll meet like-minded people while doing what you enjoy most. So if you enjoy the outdoor activities offered there, I'd imagine you'd meet someone who also enjoys that.

Are there any programs that match new teachers with a buddy of some sort to assist in navigating the transition overseas? If so, is it done automatically or does it need to be requested?

educatormama It totally depends on the school/district you go to. My overseas school did not provide me a sponsor and I was pretty much on my own with my 2 young children to figure everything out. They are trying to implement mentors for next year, I really hope they do because it was a very tough with no support.
