I saw on the news yesterday that We are pulling nearing 10,000 troops plus their families from Germany totaling near 24,000 people in total, my question is how is that going to affect hiring this year and long term job security if we are removing a quarter of the US troops from Germany. Thanks much.
So, it may not ever happen (depending on whether it moves to the next step, whether the Pentagon can delay, divert, etc, who wins the next election, etc.).
Impact? Anywhere from zero to very significant. No way to tell right now.

shervinMy husband has just finished his first year. Completed his (2nd) Master's a year ago in elementary ed with a special education endorsement. I'm a prior DODDS teacher myself and applied just a couple of weeks ago. Sorry for the multiple replies the first time. Didn't see it posting and then couldn't delete the extras.
hahaIt's a glitch. Click comment just once, even if it seems like nothing is happening. Then, open the page in a new tab to check that your comment has posted.
I am familiar with the 2005 DoDEA manual,...See MoreThank you all for the information and your perspectives. It is good to know there are openings. Since leaving, I've been following the significant reduction in footprint, and am guessing this week's announcement of Germany's force reduction will impact hiring. Dynamic times. Will check in with HR.
I am familiar with the 2005 DoDEA manual, but need to review the BluePrint. Looks like it is fairly recent.
I remember reading about this earlier, but now I can't find it. Can someone please re-post what DODEA wants for lesson break down percentages between accessing prior knowledge/new material/review? Thanks?
Do many MS/HS electives get canceled or filled by subs when they can't fill it? Someone shared a virtual learning list with me and I saw one-two sections of classes like Spanish, art, drama, music. Do schools just have limited elective options for students or is it possible some of the courses were canceled because they couldn't find a teacher
Sometimes the school might only offer a certain class during one or two periods which conflict with another class the student really wants/needs. Sometimes the school might only have a few sections of the class and they are full. And yes, most of these could be impacted by the size of the school.
If they couldn't find a teacher, they would likely just hire a sub and tell them to do the best they can, whatever the subject was (for good or bad).
The 2nd one is at the virtual high school. I'm not sure if they want someone in Germany, Okinawa, or Virginia. If you want to be considered for virtual school jobs, you must make sure that you have it checked in your application.
I have seen a couple of people recently get hired in, what appears to be, Learning Impaired positions in S. Korea. I have an interview for such a position tomorrow. What type of questions where asked? Can you provide any tips? What was the feel of the interview; was it very formal or a bit more relaxed? Thank you!
