I'm a military spouse overseas and have my info in EAS. I have been on referral lists but no interviews. I also reached out to the local school, but is there anything else I can do? Feeling hopeless at the moment and considering going back stateside where there are more opportunities till my spouse gets new orders (but that is still a little over 2 years away).

haha True. Generally if you do a good job you will eventually get more in demand in most places (to some extent).

On the other hand, we have been involved with some DoDDS schools where we were literally told that we as teachers cannot request specific subs.

haha It's funny you should mention that. It reminded me of my
last school. One year the secretary told me that she
needed to call a new sub for my class (that had not
impressed me or my TA's during our first impression)
because she was a certified teacher instead of the sub
that I would have preferred to use when I was going to be

School secretaries have a difficult job being the first POC for pretty much all requests a/o complaints about everything, especially about who gets/doesn't-get called to Sub.
