Does anyone know if Eligible for overseas Family Member Preference is also for MOH???? Can Members of Household apply for positions on base and stay for the length of the school year??????

HelpOthers If you are talking about preferences for families of the conus hire DoDEA employee, I don't think they get any preference, only the military families do.

FMP is an overseas-only, OCONUS, benefit for federal civilian sponsors on orders. FMP applies only to the spouse and unmarried children under age 23.

There are other important restrictions to the FMP program besides the above, e.g. family members must be listed on the sponsor's orders (so, e.g. family members of Local Hires are not eligible for FMP because LHs don't have orders in their own right), and the applicant can't claim FMP when already employed by, or resigned from, DoD or NAF in the same area as sponsor's assignment, i.e. FMP can only be claimed once per assignment, and FMP applies only to DoD and NAF positions (but not DIA/similar positions).

FMP does not guarantee being hired.

"Members of Household" is a term usually reserved for tax- deduction-qualfied relatives other than the spouse a/o unmarried children. While some locations allow MOHs (who aren't the spouse or unmarried child) to accompany a CONUS-Hired federal civilian sponsor or a military sponsor, the FMP will not apply to them. That said, *if* the (non- spouse/nonchild) MOHs are authorized to go overseas on the sponsor's orders, then it's also usually possible for them to be locally hired/appointed if deemed qualified and competitively selected - realistically however, those who are FMP-quaified will consume the lion's share of availabe local hire jobs, so authorized MOHs should plan on being unemployed, then be pleasantly surprised if actually hired.
