Anyone have experience shipping a car to Japan? It is a 2015 model, and I heard that I would have to pay for the Japan inspection fees, which I am willing to do.
haha It's not so much about inspection fees as it is that there are restrictions on importing non-Japanese cars. Check for most current rules but I recall that no cars built after 1976(?) are even allowed to be brought into the country. uh89 It's not simply inspection fees. When I moved to teach at Camp Zama a number of years ago, I had to leave my almost new Subaru behind here in the states because it would not have passed the Japanese emission standards. Very expensive if not impossible to get this fixed.

uh89 And "haha" is giving good advice. It's probably better to sell it. I made the mistake of putting my Subaru in storage and when I moved back to the states at the end of my contract, I had to spend almost $6000 to get it fixed and running again as letting a car simply sit in storage for a year or more can result in a lot of damage to the engine and a...See More
