I applied on the DODEA website and my account is active. As VRA applicant do I really have that much better chance of being hired? I have a M.A. in elementary ed. and twenty-two years experience. (retiring soon)

I'm assuming the DODEA does their internal transfers first and then looks at applicants. Is this correct? If so- any thoughts on timeline?

haha I'm not a veteran but from the experiences of my colleagues it seems like having veteran preference generally gives a slight advantage in hiring. Principals are supposed to hire veteran candidates if all candidates are otherwise equal but candidates are rarely completely equal and it seems fairly easy for them to get around this if they really want...See More

happyteacher From what i've heard it also depends on certifications. Many schools use local hires for elementary teachers since it is a common certification, meaning most elementary general education positions do not go CONUS with the exception of some openings in the Pacific.
