Yes, classes specializing in Autism/ABA do not help much in getting hired although they would obviously help with doing the job. They also could be helpful if you make it to the interview stage, depending on the school's SPED population. Like I posted before, obtain and search through course catalogs and even syllabi for the key words you need (e..g. intellectual/cognitive deficit,mental retardation, moderate/severe impairment/disability, physical disability, augmentative communication, etc). I literally had to highlight the words in the descriptions and syllabi I sent in and they eventually accepted me for 9 certification areas.

My wife also had to get a letter from her college registrar to explain why a course should be counted when the catalog from that year was no longer available.
