Hi all. My wife and I really want to be in the DOD. She's home with the young girls right now, so it will just be me applying. This is really the only year I can do it. We've had to move a lot since we got married 6 years ago. So if I don't get in this year, we'll have to find some place to settle down for good.

My question is: if we really want to be on the east coast (NC, VA, or NY), should I apply everywhere around the world, just to get in, and then hopefully transfer to the post we really want in 3-5 years? Or should we just list the stateside places we'd like to live? We're both ok with going overseas...but we don't want to do that for 3-5 years and have to go back to a regular school system. I need to start thinking about my pension...

Thanks.
haha The general consensus is that it's harder to get into DoDEA overseas than DoDEA stateside. By all means put down whatever you like but only if you would be really interested in going overseas for a while. Overseas DoDEA is a great gig in many, many ways but it's not for everyone.
